Last time I used my phone with MyPhoneExplorer was in 2008-July-09. I kept a database backup (mpb file). Since then my computer has been reformated, and then sold (but I still keep my mpb backups).
Today I reinstalled MyPhoneExplorer on my new PC. I had to connect the phone first and it would copy the phone contents into MyPhoneExplorer. Then I could restore the backup. However I could see it just imported the calendar from the backup and replaced my latest calendar entries. Since my phone was still connected, it replaced my phone's calendar with the calendar I had back in July. Now I've lost all my calendar entries/appointments for the next following weeks!!!
Backup restore means that your phone is set to the state when the backup was created. Thats the sence of Backups. If you just want to import the calendar without replacing the old items then you can import the backupfile (Calendar->rightclick->Import/Export)

It's just the contacts, calendar which got replaced. Probably notes too but I never changed notes.
When i create a back up I always archive my text messages BEFORE the backup is created... so all my indox/sent messages are moved into achive folder (sub-folder auto-archive). I think it's still there.. while my new messages from the phone got sync to MyPhoneExplorer... which is good.
It's quite worrying when one is unsure whether information is missing. I can always rebuild my calendar & addressbook.. it was the sms text messages that I cannot rebuild...if lost. but hopefully I think it's all there..
