On the Widcomm-Software you have to activate the serial-port before you try to open it with MyPhoneExplorer.

Usually I just activate the bluetooth and the MPE opens the
com port automatically. It works most the time, but every now and then
it won't. |

Its not the job of MyPhoneExplorer to initialize the Bluetooth-Connection - the Bluetooth-Software handles that. MyPhoneExplorer only try to open the Port - no more and no less |

Hallo,
I'm afraid that there is something wrong with the MPE 1.4 version.
Since the last update, I could only connect my phone once: in the morning after a fresh start.
If I closed MPE, no way to get the phone recognized.

Just for the record, I'm running MPE on a ASUS V6 portable with Toshiba BT stack.
Just before noon I tried to reinstall MPE to make sure it wasn't my computer: Uninstal MPE, reboot; Reg clean with CCleaner to avoid bad registry entries, reboot. re-instal MPE 1.4, reboot.
I tried again and again the same error, fist connection OK, no further connections possible -> phone can't be recognized.
Being stubborn, I unistalled MPE 1.4 again (with cleanup as before) and installed 1.3.3 version.
With 1.3.3 version everything gets back to normal: I can shutdown and reopen MPE as often as I want, it works.
For your reference, I also have MPE installed on my home computer (Widcomm stack) and there I have the same problem: 1 connection, no more.
Any idea what the cause could be?
Danke im Voraus für die Hilfe!!

PS. with the 1.3.3. version I don't even have to open the COM40, MPE does it atomatically |

MPE only opens a virtual COM-Port - it doesn't matter what kind this Port is BT, IrDa or cable. The fault is on your Bluetooth-Software which initializes the wireless connection.
I don't think it depends on the different versions of MyPhoneExplorer. If you want you can use in Version 1.4.5 the option "Stable connection" - then the whole communication works exactly the same way as MPE Version 1.3. |

I forgot to mention that I tried 1.4.5 with stable option ticked but the result was the same: 1st time after reboot OK, no further connections.
If you think its my BT stack (on both computers and different brands: Toshiba & Widcomm) I'll stick with the 1.3.3. version for the moment.
Thanks for responding so fast |

I cannot believe that its depending on the way how the MyPhoneExplorer opens the port. many thousands are using the new version and nobody had a problem like yours. |

Hi Tonio78370,
after doing a Windows update for the latest patches i had the same problems you have with the Toshiba stack on my Dell Notebook. On the computer at home i have the Widocmm stack and had no problems after the Windows update.
Now, on my notebook i tried to reinstall Toshiba BT-stack but nothing did help till i deinstalled all that stuff and installed the MS BT-stack included in XP-SP2 --- and it works again --- with MPE 1.4.5 which was installed all the time. So this isn't a problem of MPE. Maybe there were some changes in the last MS-update resulting in a conflict with the Toshiba stack.
If you don't need audio support for BT, try to install MS-BT-stack after removing all of Toshiba.

Hello,
Did another test yesterday evening and I guess your both right, it's the Toshiba stack on my Asus that seems the origin of my trouble.
The bad thing is that I already tried once to instal the MS BT Stack but couldn't get it to work.
When I have some more time (and a lot of courage), I'll give it another try.
Thanks for your information |

As (happily) it was raining yesterday evening, I attacked the change of the BT Stack on my ASUS.
In the meantime there is a driver for the Toshiba stack under MS SP2 Stack so change was without problems.
I installed the 1.4.5. version of MPE and everything is back to normal.
Thank you "Grand Master" FJ and Mr. Deauville! |
