k790i - attempt to connect ==> No Device Found

Hi all,

Could anyone please help me get a k790i up and running with MyPhoneExplorer.

Trying to connect over Bluetooth to a Siemens notebook running a Toshiba stack.

The k790i is paired on COM41 as a Serial Port device.

Prior to running MyPhoneExplorer, I successfully sent a file from PC to k790i and
then another file from k790i to PC to verify that there's no issues at the BT level.

I then performed:
File -->
Options -->
Connection --> "Search Device"

The result I got is a "Search Completed" pop-up notifying
"No device found. Tips......"

The debug file from this operation is listed further below.

After this operation I again checked that the BT connection is up and running.

I've tried almost everything possible, various combinations of
BT off/on cycling, switching off/on both the Siemens NB and k790i.

Out of despair I've even installed the terrible SE SW... ...worked OK but the "traditional" SE hair-tearing user experience was still there..... ......un-installed immediately Wink

I've tried all that I could think of - nothing else left to do than to yelp for help....

Hi Alex,

what version of Toshiba's stack do you use and which Windows version?
There's a known bug in Toshiba's stack (3.xx) after updating Windows XP SP2 with the newest security patches.

So try following things:
- are you able to send a file direct from your phone to notebook via BT (without MPE)?
- if so, doubleclick the BT-icon in systray and look if there's a serial device to your phone. If not, add a device (be sure your phone is visible) and enter the same free personal key on both sides
- right klick the serial device and connect (pair) if it isn't.
- try to connect with MPE
- if all is right, disconnect and end MPE
- restart MPE and connect again. If MPE can't connect a second time you'll have the bug in Toshiba's stack.

If you don't need BT audio support (such as BT headset or audio gateway), it's much more stable to use Microsoft's BT-Stack.
Otherwise try to update the Toshiba stack.
