Hi,

I am unable to install myphoneexplorer client to G1, FROYO 2.2. Error message was "A manual update is required." Please advise what is the manual update I have to install? Thank you.

is it possible you did enable "automatic update", but you have to do a manual upgrade in the market? If so, please update!

Thank you for your respond. Could you please guide me how to update manually from the market? I manually downloaded mpeclient.apk but installation still cannot be done. Please help. Thank you.

there are 3 ways to install it:

1) download MPE Software for computer -> install it, set up the usb connection (see the FAQ), the app should be installed by MPE automatically during the first connection (when you try to connect MPE to your phone!)!

2) install the app from the market (like any other software!) this should not be a problem

3) download the app from the web (e.g. beta apk or from whereever you got it), enable the checkbox for "untrusted applications" in android phone -> settings -> application

I recommend version 1 or 2. You should not go for version 3 unless you really need to!!!

Thank you for your quick respond and I would like to apologize for not being specific on my question.

I did all of the below instructions. The history was I installed Myphoneexplorer long time ago on my G1 phone but never use it. Until recently I downloaded the 1.8.1 PC software and install on my PC. When I first connect my phone with the PC, the myphoneexplorer alerted me the mpeclient on my phone was outdated and need to upgrade the version. Thus, I clicked ok but it crashed my phone. Thus, I removed the old mpeclient from my phone and thinking to freshly install a new one. But since then, I was not able to download the software from the market (which is auto downloaded and I can't pick which version I want to download) but couldn't install on the phone. It always shows "installation unsuccessful".

I once had a similar problem with another app. This seems to be an android related problem with corrupt installations. I remember, that "Titanium Backup Pro" did help me back then.

Maybe you want to try to COMPLETELY uninstall MPE from your phone using android default package mannager (settings -> application -> manage applications) and titanium backup.

After this, reboot your phone and see if there is anything of MPE left on your phone. If not, just install the new version from the market!
