Which "Contact-acounts to sync" settings to use?
On my Android phone, under the MyPhoneExplorer "settings", there is an option for "Contact-accounts to sync". I can select:
* "Phone", and/or
* "Google (My.Name@gmail.com)".
What is the difference between those two settings? Which one should I choose?
I currently have both "Phone" and "Google" checked. It seems to be working. But I'm woried that I'm loading redundant data onto the phone.
Is there an English user manual link or sticky that covers this question?
Thanks in advance. Great software!
FYI: It is working on my LG Optimus S (LS670) on Android 2.2.1.

one topic is enough, please dont open multiple topics with the same content!
As for your question:
The "add new contacts to" option, gives you the opportunity to decide to which "contactbook" in your phone you like to add your new contacts via MPE.
In the contact sync option, you can decide which contactbooks should be synced. When you look into your phones contactbook, there should be the option "phone" and/or "google". I've never used this before, but i guess if you choose your contacts to be in google, they are synced with google. If you want them to be "on your phone", they aren't synced with google.

Stefan: Thank you for the prompt reply.
On Android phones, I believe that there is only one set of contacts. All contacts are stored in one place on the phone and are automatically synchronized with Google's (Gmail) servers. I don't think that there is one set of "phone" contacts and another set of "Google" contacts on Android phones. (I wish there were because I HATE giving Google access to all of my contacts.) That's why I'm confused about the settings for "Contact-accounts to sync" and for "Add new contacts to".
By the way, originally I wrote my two questions (about those two settings) in one post, but I didn't think that everybody would have questions about BOTH settings so I cut & pasted into two posts so that it would be easier for others to search and find (since each setting would have its own subject line). I thought it would save everyone time. I didn't mean to spam.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

I did some experiments and some research, and I think I understand now. I was wrong about my phone only having one contacts folder. Please tell me if the following is correct:
My phone (or I guess any Android phone) apparently does contain two contacts folders:
1) A "phone-only (unsynced)" contacts folder that CAN NOT synchronize with Gmail's servers, and
2) A "Google" contacts folder that CAN synchronize with Gmail's servers.
I assume that:
(A) In the MyPhoneExplorer’s client app’s settings for "Contact-accounts to sync" and "Add new contacts to..." I can choose to synchronize Outlook and the MyPhoneExplorer-PC-tool with the two types of contact folders on the phone (mentioned above).
(B) If I want my Outlook contacts to synchronize with Gmail's servers (through my phone), I should select "Google" under the two settings mentioned in (A) above.
(C) If I DO NOT want my contacts to synchronize with Gmail's servers (through my phone), I should select "Phone" under the two settings mentioned in (A) above.
(D) If I select BOTH "Phone" and "Google" under the "Contact-accounts to sync" setting, then I will create duplicate contacts folders on my phone. I guess that would waste space on the phone, unless for example, I intentionally synchronized my "Friend" contacts on Outlook to the "Phone-only" and my "Business" contacts on Outlook to "Google" on my phone (which would then synchronize to the Gmail servers).
FYI: Based on my experiments with Google Voice Command, the "Navigate to" command will not work correctly for contacts that are in my "Phone-only" contacts folder. For example, if "Joe Blow" is a phone-only contact, I can say, "Call to Joe Blow" or "Dial Joe Blow", or "Text to Joe Blow" and the commands will work properly and find Joe Blow's phone number. But if I say "Navigate to Joe Blow", Google Voice Command will show "Navigate to Joe Blow" and launch the Google Navigation app, but Google’s Navigation app will not find the address. (Very puzzling.)

You can find that options direct in the settings of the MyPhoneExplorer Client on your mobile device.javpal hat geschrieben:I just can't find the option "Contact-accounts to sync" and "Add new contacts to..."

Contacts do not appear in MPE with DroiX
I've installed the latest MPE and can connect using either wifi or USB cable. I am able to read and send messages but my DroidX contacts do not appear in MPE.
If I add a contact in MPE I can sync it to the hpone/google phonebook and then it disappears from my MPE contact list

Thank you for your reply, however, the option Contact Accounts to Sync doesn't show in my settings menu.
Under settings in MPE I have the following menus:
Wifi PIN
Stanby mode on active connection
Silent mode on active connection
Calendars to sync
add new events to...
Name format
address format
That's it. No Contacts options.
What am I missing?
