Please check the forum
www.esato.com . I think i read there a while ago where the playlists are saved in the earlier phones (you need Flash-Tools to access them). The playlists on the old models are saved in xml-format

Thanks for the prompt reply (as always).
The thing is, you have to export a playlist as XML file from iTunes, and then copy that XML file to your phone using Disc2Phone.
Although I still have to check it out (installation of Disc2Phone requires a restart), there are a few drawbacks on this method.
1) it makes me dependent on iTunes more, a thing I'm starting to get more and more wary of.
2) file transfer to my phone (w810) is very slow (USB 1.0 / BlueTooth, the Phone does not seem to support USB2.0), I guess Disc2Phone requires file transfer to be to my phone. I prefer to use my much faster cardreader, preferably by syncing the card with WinAmp.
Do you think you will start supporting XML playlists via MPE in the future? I'll have a look at the operations Disc2Phone performs and maybe compare XML files beings transferred from Itunes and from Disc2Phone.

Okay, I checked out Disc2Phone.
Disc2Phone is able to find the songs from an iTunes playlist, but then does not transfer the playlist, just the songs. No playlist is created on the phone.
Unfortunately.
I think this will be the main reason why I would switch phones. A mp3 Walkman is a usable mp3 Walkman with a lot of songs. With a lot of songs you either need to be able to browse through your mp3s based on album by id3 tags, or by playlist. If you cant do that you can't consider the player to be a real mp3 player.

But SE has learned from it -> all newer phones support *.m3u-Lists (and MyPhoneExplorer is able to create and edit them

)

So my next phone might again be a SE. Especially now that I have this great tool to actually use it to the fullest
I also think that adding playlist capabilities typically is an example a of a useful firmware upgrade.

SE never adds new features in a firmware-upgrade. Mostly there are only bugfixes in it.

On W810, the playlist is stored in \TPA\SYSTEM\multimedia\MP\PL but you can patch the W810 (and also K750) to store the playlists in /usb/other/sys/mp/pl. It uses the xml format.
http://rapidshare.com/files/49776637/My ... t.pml.html - Is a playlist taken from my patched W810.
Two other playlist creators for xml also exist but it would be nice to have the xml feature in MPE.
p.s, if you do implement xml playlists, it would also be nice if they could be made from /Memory Stick/MSSEMC/Media files/audio
Thanks and regards,
qwerty

It has no sence to create a feature which will work only on patched devices
