First post from me! Just to say that I also have a Desire HD but everything works OK for me. I am running XP Pro (SP3) on my PC though rather than Windows 7. I usually sync about 85 to 90 entries, which includes ALL details with multiple phone/fax numbers, address(es), urls, email(s), company name, etc. As an experiment, partly to answer your question FJ, and partly because I could well use the DHD as a business phone, I downloaded an old *works contact* list I have. I downloaded 653 contacts, as complex as above, with no problems, though it took over 5 minutes.
I am running client 1.8.0 on my PC and 1.0.6 on my phone.
Hope that helps and could the Desire HD be added to the supported list? I also use it to sync my calendar and various files on the device. Great program! |

Hi!
I, too, have a Desire HD running Froyo, and i have the same problem. I installed MPE on a Vista 64, and the app i found on the market to the phone.
When i fire up the app, everything seems ok, i open up MPE on my PC and it detects the phone, asks for name and starts syncing. Just then, the app crashes, and the sync window on the PC locks up, then says it's unable to connect. Then retries, and so on, until i hit the close button.
Is there something wrong with the app? |

Maybe, maybe not.
Which version of the client is currently installed on your phone ? 1.0.6 ? Please post the logfile of MyPhoneExplorer after the client crashed. |

ok, tried it again. here's what happens:
on the phone (app version 1.06), after i try to connect via wifi (had it set for android and wifi in the settings menu), i get about 1 min later the following message:
"The application MyPhoneExplorer Client (process com.soft.myphoneexplorer.client) has stopped working. Please try again." Force close/Report.
At the same time, the sync window is stuck on "sync phonebook(phone)" part, and this error message appears: "Obex protocol could not be initialized! OBEX Error:" and an OK button. If i hit OK, it goes on to Sync organizer, then i get the same message. Hitting OK again moves on to "refresh call lists" , and i get another message "connection to the phone not possible!"and "OK".
After that, interestingly enough, MPE does work on some level -
What works:
-everything in the monitor menu, cpu stats in real time battery, etc
-memory status
-all call lists
-applications (it refreshes properly, albeit slow)
- alarms
What doesn't work:
-calendar is empty (i use gmail calendar, so it's possible that it just has the wrong one or something)
-everything in the messages tab - although i can send/receive messages, it just doesn't acknowledge the older ones. I've sent an SMS to myself, and MPE sent it, saved the draft, saved to sent and displayed the "new sms" notification, which i was able to read in MPE.
-contacts (nothing there, although weirdly enough, the call lists have names in my PB attached to them)
I wanted to copy/paste the log file too, but i can't seem to find it...
I'll test some more stuff and getw back to you. Apparently it only has a problem with syncing some stuff, after that it works fine with new I/O from the phone. |

ok, i ran some more tests:
Made a new contact in MPE, hit sync, got the same error. I ran "download all contacts" in MPE - same error as before. This time it locked up for a few minutes before getting the "Connection to phone not possible!" error.
Doesn't sync with messages either.
I made a new alarm in MPE, and it shows up on the phone, so that works fine.
Made a new appointment in the calendar, it syncs the calendar fine, but very slowly (took about 3-4 mins), and the appointment shows up in the phone calendar as coming from "PC sync". Still, nothing from the phone's appointments shows up in MPE. I deleted the appointment from the phone, then ran a calendar sync in MPE: this time, i took only a couple of seconds, and the appointment was removed from MPE's calendar without problems.
I does run applications from MPE, and can download them to the computer without problems.
In the meanwhile i installed this app: http://www.appbrain.com/app/net.xdevelop.rm which, eve though it's no MPE, works pretty okay. IMO, i think the app's force close problem is causing all this. |

OK, its just a littlebit curious cause there are already other users which work on the Desire HD without problems. Anyway -> a Force close should never happen so there is a bug which has to be fixed.
- if the client on phone is running -> EXIT the client
- connect your phone via USB-Cable
- run myPhoneExplorer in Debugmode (Start-Run-myphoneexplorer debug-OK)
- reproduce the problem (the Force-Close)
- open the datadirectory of MyPhoneExplorer (Start-Run-%appdata%\MyPhoneExplorer-OK)
- you should see 2 Logfiles: Debug.txt and AndroidDebug.txt -> send me both files zipped via email with refrence to this Thread |

As a user with a Desire HD that has MPE working (see above for OS caveats) I'll add to the above and say that:
1) when I plug in the USB cable I choose 'htc sync' on the phone (it's still installed on my PC so it starts up automatically - I then kill it)
2) I have 'USB debugging' enabled on my phone - settings>applications>development>USB debugging.
Maybe that helps? |

i ran the tests with this setup too. It still crashed on the phone, Force-close and all.
I have just sent the logfiles via email. Thanks! |

I have exactly the same problem, but I have just a HTC Desire, no HD.
Messages works, all status values and so on are correct, I can browse the memory of the phone, but when I try to sync contacts the app crashes.
Let me know if I can help in any way. |
