The problem I've noticed, with Android and NOT MPE, is one where I've synced a recurring event to my phone's calendar but when I try to edit/delete an instance on the phone the only option is to edit/delete the 'whole series' or 'this and every future' event. Obviously in Outlook (even OL2000 which I use) you get the option to edit/delete just this occurrence or all occurrences. From what I understand this is a limitation of Android's calendar handling.

What I was wondering was, would it be possible for MPE to recognise a recurring event in Outlook and be able to sync it to the phone as a series of individual events? This could be a settings option - do you keep as recurring or split into individual events.

I'm not sure what all the ramifications would be but one that I can think of is that a future sync would not recognise the Android series of *individual* events as a series which would mess things up.

Thoughts? If it could be done this is one *option* that would be useful to me.

Thanks.

MyPhoneExplorer is able to handle deleted items of a ruled event. Modified items of a ruled event are very difficult to handle for sync so i'm afraid of implementing them

I'm not sure I explained things properly but basically the problem is as described, you cannot edit/delete just one instance of a recurring event in Android. I don't think the issue is with the Outlook sync but with Android itself - see .... http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2229 ... I believe this is the same problem.

Now my suggestion was to split each recurring event into individual events so that they could be edited/deleted individually - but only as an option, the default to be the opposite. The reason for having it as an option is that it is working around what seems to be an android bug. However, when trying to sync back to Outlook this could well cause problems. As I'm not familiar with the various APIs I can't comment from as position of knowing.

Does this help to understand my problem/potential solution? Or was it just an issue of English to German to English translation ... ? Embarassed

Hi,
I can do it with HTC Desire HD. I receive a selection request to change all the instances or the selected one only.

I'm using a second calendar, I don't sync the main calendar.

I also have a DHD but I only get the choice to 'edit/delete all' or 'edit/delete this and all future' events. Though I'm just using a single calendar on my phone and sync with Outlook.

I have 'edit this event only' option too...

Did you try to click on the single event to show the details and edit it using the edit option of the menu button?

If it doesn't works maybe the problem is in the main calendar, try to create a new one and synch it...

Nope. Doesn't work. Don't get the 'edit this event only' option, only the whole series. I *believe* this is because I'm using the 'PC Sync' calendar and NOT a Google one. I don't want to sync with Google so any fixes need, for me anyway, to be bwteen Outlook and Android via MPE.

Any more comments?

The only thing is to check if you have the latest update (Android 2.2.1 - Kernel 2.6.32.21-g1e30168 - Calendar version 2.2.1).

Eventually I can suggest you to try with a google calendar (without sync with Google, just for test) or search another calendar app in the market.
