Strange behavior with calendar events

Hello
There are two anniversary events (for Outlook contacts) that sync successfully with MPE. They show up in MPE but do not show up in the phone. I though that strange because MPE shows exactly what is in the phone.
I remove the two Outlook contacts and their associated anniversaries from both the phone and from Outlook and sync again. This was successful.
I put the contacts back in Outlook with their anniversaries and sync again. The contacts and anniversaries show up in MPE. However, the same anniversaries do not show up in the phone.
One other strange thing is that the birthdays for the same contacts have no problems. They sync OK and show up in both MPE and on the phone.
What could be the problem?
