Hi all

I am planning to buy an Android phone. Though I know most if not all Android phones are supported, my concern is does MPE sync well with TB and SB as this is pretty intrinsic requirement for me to change to a new phone.

Also once synced will the appts and recurring tasks reminders pop up on the phone at given times or do I have to start something to know that the time is approaching?

Presently I am using a WM6 phone and use FinchSync to sync things.

Please advise

Thanks and regards

Hi,
I am not using Sunbird, but Thunderbird with Lightning. MPE works fine with this combination (with some limitations, e.g. TB addressbook does not have so many fields for emails as your phone might have, etc.). Another limitation is with tasks, at this moment, MPE does not sync with native phone tasks database, so you can't choose application for tasks management, you have to use MPETask (included with MPE), which is still a bit basic in functionality.
Overall, I am quite happy with TB synchronization.
Reminders will pop-up at the specified time automatically, usually on both phone and PC with TB Smile.

Thanks a lot for your response Kicker and I am glad to know you are satisfied with the results.

I think SunBird and Lightening are both the same just that I like the separate window that SunBird provides (or does Lightening too have a separate window outside of ThunderBird?)

A couple of questions in regards to SB/L
- Do you use the internal SQLLite (this is the default I guess) or the .ics file to store your appts and tasks?
- Does MPE handle recurring tasks well, cause I really have a lot of task with custom recurrence, for eg. every 2 months, every 3 week on a particular day, etc.

Please advise

Thanks and regards

No idea, I am quite happy to have both in one window. But according to Sunbird web, it seems to be no longer developed, in favor of Lightning...

Yes, I am using the default, I have not changed the storage.

I am sorry, someone else will have to answer this, or you will have to experiment a bit. I am not using reccurence on tasks much, as I think the current Lightning implementation is flawed (coming from Palm and Agendus, I am probably too spoiled by the luxury that offered Wink, still missing most of that functionality on both TB and Android).
