Hi all,
Coming from a 1 year old working setup (ubuntu/wine/thunderbird/android
2.3.3), i just updated my ubuntu box to 12.04. Since, when i try to
start MPE through wine, the app crashes with message "invalid
parameters" (french to english translation). Tested with MPE 1.8.1 and 1.8.2
I very don't now what is the software in this group which is causing the
app crash since my ubuntu update but i've got some stuff here:

- i tried to start MPE without my profile (deleting the "LastUser=...."
in general.ini" : it starts \o/ and when i load my profile it crashes
- when i start MPE without any pre-configured profile, and i start
configuring one new from scratch, MPE crashes when i configure the
address book sync (choosing thunderbird and click on "advanced" button
causing crash)
- i also tried to uggly-ly delete lines in my profile's configuration
file (settings.dat), and i found the one without which MPE is OK for
starting : it is "IsAndroid=1". MPE starts OK, and crash when i try the
multi-synchronisation (wifi) :/

Is anybody have some idea to help me to fix my problem, as it seems i am
the only guy in this world to have this issue ?

Thanks

From your descriptions i think the problem has to do with networking, cause in Android mode MyPhoneExplorer does open a listening TCP port already on startup. But since i am not familiar with Wine and Linux i think i cannot help you

hi FJ, thanks for your response, and thank you for your great software Very Happy

I finally managed to get it back to work with totaly restarting my install from scratch (including blanked .wine folder)
I suspect the problem to was somewhere around the msxml3 wine install which seemed to be broken since my ubuntu upgrade, without be sure of that

I had the exact same problem on 12.04, and the solution was to reinstall wine. I also got it to work with USB by installing adb. However, I now have a weird problem, which is that when I close MPR, all the title bars disappear from all other windows. I have to muck around with Compiz to get them back.

Do you see anything similar?

Did you follow all the install instructions, including those of oleaut32.dll etc. I am trying to figure out what is the cause of the fault on my system.

HI, sorry for the late response
I didn't notice something like that but i dont use compiz as my desktop env is at this moment the gnome fallback mode without any desktop effect.
Have you tried to reproduce your issue with another windows manager, or your issue is only compiz related ?

Thanks.

I am using the full Ubuntu 12.04 3d Unity desktop (well at least I think I am - I still find the variety of options and volume of information a bit daunting). I don't have a clue as to how to try anything different.

I added gdiplus (native) to the wine 1.5 libraries and set the O/S to Windows XP. Things seemed to have settled down now, although it still occasionally deletes the title bars. I found a way to get them back (using CCSM and turning Windows Decoration off and then on again).
