Can't find my phone via Ethernet cable

Hi.

I can't find my phone (HTC EVO3D with Android 4). When I try to find it through my desktop computer, which is connected to router via ethernet cable (rj-45), no phone found - but I tried it on my laptop then. I couldn't find phone either, when the laptop was connected via cable, but then I turned on Wi-Fi connection (on the laptop) and my phone was found!

Can somebody help, how can I sync my phone to my desktop PC? Thanks!

I assume that your router is a wireless router? If not then you won't connect your phone to your PC easily. My PC is cabled to my (wireless) router and mine finds the phone with no problem.

If your router is wireless do you know the ip address of the phone and, if so, can you 'ping' it from your PC? If you can't do that you won't connect.

If your router is wireless and you can't see your phone, have you tried to reset your router? (I have just had the only instance in 3 years - same phone- where I couldn't do this and the solution was to reset the router).

What about a firewall on your pc blocking things?

Try all this, and 'search' the forums for similar issues to see if one of those threads helps.
