[Tip] In case phone not detected or no connection possible

Hello

I learned a couple of things this week-end while trying to convert my Galaxy Nexus from its stock Android 4.2.1 to Cyanogenmod, and figured I could share this with MPE users who might encounter the same issues.

Connect the phone into a USB port directly, instead of going through a USB hub
Try a diffferent USB cable: A USB cable that worked fine for charging or syncing with MPE didn't work when upgrading to Cyanogenmod
Try a different USB port: For some reason, Windows couldn't install the driver when plugging the phone in one USB port, but succeeded when plugging it through another USB port
If you can't find the drivers or they don't work right, the Nexus Root Toolkit can take care of cleaning up Windows, and install four different types of drivers
Make sure "USB Debugging" is enabled, or MPE won't be able to connect: It appears that this is required for ADB to run on the phone, and ADB is used by MPE to sync data. This option could be in the "Developer Options" but this section might be hidden by default.

Thanks for this info. I knew that USB-Hubs are problematic but i did not think that the cable itself can cause problems too
