Thunderbird won't sync

I have Thunderbird 24 on two computers along with MyPhoneExplorer (MPE). Thew contacts sync worked fine until recently - maybe an auto upgrade of Thunderbird. In any event MPE now tells me that the add on is old - but it comes back with an error saying it cannot load the new one when it tries. does it work for anyone with TBird 24.1.1?

same version here, I've found it works with mpe v1.8.4 not v1.8.5
The error I get is

I too am having problems sinking with Thunderbird. It tells me that "The MyPhoneExplorer-Extension is either not installed or to old. Install the newest plugin now?" When i click OK a window comes up telling me "Please close Thunderbird before continuing." If I click Cancel, it comes up with this message "Folder structure from Thunderbird could not be listed." My Thunderbird version is 25.0.1. Do you think that Thunderbird has changed its directory structure?

I've no idea but that's two versions of thunderbird its not working with.
Does v1.8.4 work for you ?

thanks for the reply.
I installed 1.8.4 over the top of 1.8.5 and this is the result when syncing the Thunderbird entries.
"Loading entries from Thunderbird failed."
When I went into advanced options I get the same message "The MyPhoneExplorer-Extension is either not installed or to old Install the newest plugin now?"
I then get the message to close Thunderbird which I did. It then seemed to install the extension and open Thunderbird but I still get the "Loading entries from Thunderbird failed."
I have tried several times but always get the "Loading entries from Thunderbird failed."
So unless the install of 1.8.4 over 1.8.5 did not replace all of the files for 1.8.5 then it is not working in 1.8.4.

Please check which version of the MyPhoneExplorer Addon is installed in Thunderbird. You can get the most recent version here: https://www.pueschel.net/mpe/mpe-addin.xpi

When the download you suggested tried to install, the message "MyPhoneExplorer could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 25.0.1"

The MPE Extension 2.0.15 was already installed on Thunderbird but it was disabled. When I clicked more options it gave me the option to enable it and it was enabled.

I was then able to sync my phone and Thunderbird. I still have 1.8.4 MPE installed.

Should I try to install 1.8.5 again?

The Addon is not made for Firefox - it was developed for Thundebird. You have to download the addon via "Save as..."

Why you disable dthe Addon ?
Yes, install now v1.8.5 and try it again

+7 years later, I get the same error:

So I close TB, one sync step works, then - TB was opened by MPEx itself - comes the message again, I close TB again, and a third time.
Then the sync is finished successfully.

Versions:
- Thunderbird 68.9.0 (64-bit)
- TB Addon 2.0.25
- MyPhoneExplorer 1.8.14 (paid)
- Windows 10 - Android 6
