Having recently switched from XP to Win 7 I've been adjusting to the nuances MS loves to throw at us users. One of the first things I noticed after installing the generic ADP drivers is that Win7 recognizes the Nexus 4 android as a camera but will not display internal storage or SD card storage unless:
- when the connect message comes up that a camera is connected you tap the "Connected as a Camera, Touch for other USB options"
- Next you have two choices, "Camera (PTP) which comes up selected as that is how it connected and the other choice is "Media Device (MTP)".
- If I tap and select Media Device (MTP) and then select Camera (PTP) I hear the Windows connect sound and suddenly I can see both the internal storage and my SD card storage.
Question is I've changed nothing from the way it was when it "connected" via USB but now it works after being provoked by a change in setting and then return to default setting. Bug or "feature"? Is Win7 causing this or MPE?
I know I can use MPE to view and upload or download my photos etc. but seeing the phone from the PC file explorer is very handy indeed.
