Crashing at Launch

This has been working wonderfully so far, today I am unable to open. Upon starting, the shows "Loading user data - contacts" and it crashes there itself

If you delete (or more secure: rename) the file "Phonebook.dat" on the harddrive in MPEs directory, then the application MPE will launch again successfully, but then of course the Contacts are missing. Then you need to load them newly from Phone (with the "Arrow down" button). Then they are loaded to MPE again (and the file is created again as "Phonebook.dat") and then you can sync again with Outlook, if that applies to you.
Works for me fine, but next time I want to lauch MPE, it crashes again at the same spot. Then I need to delete or rename the file again.
So it is not a long-term solution.
No clue why MPE has this error with that file.
I encounter this problem only since I upgraded to Windows 10 last week. you?

I instead reinstalled MPE and it works fine so far. I am on Windows 8.
