Hello,
I was a very happy user of the MPE when using an HTC phone. I also donated to the welfare.
I now have a Sony Xperia XA2 which sync backwards and forwards with the Contacts.
But I cannot get the calendar to sync....!
Can MPE sync with this device? If so, does one have to use a specific Calendar app?
Many thanks in advance. |

I have disabled and force stopped the Sony Experia calendar, and tried adding a couple of different calendars off Google Pay.
Thing is, MPE is not recognising the new calendars as the Device Calendar, even when Device Calendar is ticked in the Settings. There is some syncing going on, but with what on the phone I do not know.
I did open up again the Sony Calendar on a whim and there was a variety of random events and birthdays scattered throughout. Although, not all events and the birthdays were completely fabricated.
Any help please would be superb.
Am happy to donate once again once sorted. |

You have chosen the correct calendar under MPE settings on the phone? (Settings > Calendars to sync). Personally I use the stock 'Google' calendar - created when I sync up with the Play Store. HOWEVER, I first turn off sync'ing with the Google cloud ( phone settings - NOT mpe settings in this case - > Cloud and Accounts > Accounts > Google > disable sync'ing - this is with Android 7 on a Samsung S7 so your settings may differ).
Do you have a Google calendar to sync to? |

Hello, many thanks for responding.
Yup, if this is being answered correctly, I found some settings on the phone to ensure I had chosen a default Calendar option. And also the settings in MPE to choose the right Calendar.
But, to enforce, I had deleted all those I didn't want or Stopped that which couldn't be deleted - in this case, the Experia Calendar.
Funnily enough, having deleted all those tried thus far, I then had moderate success with the Google Calendar app. But of course, this only syncs one month back and whatever is in front of the current day. Not ideal either.
Have spent a day on trying to get the phone up and operational, of which the majority was on this particular case.
Is there no calendar other than Google Calendar that people have had fully rounded success with? A pity if not as the MPE is a wonderful piece of work - Would be a shame if Sony really conspired to screw it up.
Thanks all. Simon. |

In the MPE client on the PC: settings > Sync > Events and tasks - Advanced > Sync all events.
Works for me. The default 'month only sync' is when you let Google do the sync. |

Hi.
Yup, those are the settings.
Can you confirm that your results are by using the Sony Xperia, XA2? There seem to be a bunch of reports that say syncing with Outlook is not possible with the Sony phones.
To clarify, with my HTC, all was fine in this respect. |

Nope. Mine's a Samsung Galaxy S7 with custom (but based on stock) ROM. Have you tried creating a new local calendar with MPE?
Settings > Manage local calendars? |

Hi, yup. I had set up a new local calendar on the phone but it didn't recognise that either.
I set it up as my Christian name, directed MPE towards it, but I didn't obviously see any new calendar called my name, nor did it recognise the Device Calendar already installed when I performed a sync...
Completely at a loss here sir. |

Hi,

OK the name from the new local calendar is "Simon" ?
Then you must Phone => MPE-Client => Settings => Calendars to sync enable only "Simon"
Then force sync Outlook > Phone
Do not forget in your Calendar-App to enable the calendar "Simon" to view |

Yup - I did all that but unless I am missing something else, it made not a single bit of difference.
So, once I created a Local Calendar, I then had Local and Simon Calendars to choose from. I unticked Device, and ticked Simon. No difference. So far, it has worked only with Google Calendar as the Device Calendar, but as before, it deletes from the phone anything older than a month.
I have Force Stopped the Experia Device Calendar so there is no confusion there.
If you find yourself in the possession of a Sony Xperia, then please do try it. The internet forums seem full of people that cannot get Outlook to sync with Sony.
I do not know why as I would have thought the important thing was Android, not the manufacturer.
By the way, Christian name means my first name. Simon.
Many thanks for your continued responding sir. |
