No Outlook option = USELESS

Love your MPE for 5 or 6 years and use it on several computers so am familiar with it.
A recent motherboard replacement has meant an updated version of Office was installed on my laptop. Using MPE 1.8.12 on the laptop.
In File-> Settings-> Sync, MPE gives me no option to sync with Outlook 2016 - it is just not listed in the drop down menu. (works fine on my desktop).
I am guessing it can't find the .ost file. You are probably aware MS has decided to make things tricky. A summary of what I know.
Ost. File for Outlook used to be here:
System (C)\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
Now on recent laptop running latest Windows update it is here
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Office.Desktop_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Local\Microsoft\Outlook_AppX
In Outlook it looks like it is here. C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook_AppX\name@email.com.ost Pointers used to the real location – not something I understand.
This article explains a lot. https://www.slipstick.com/outlook/outlook-store-app/
Wondering if I can do a work around or will it require an MPE update?
Have other users experienced this issue - I couldn't find any reference to this problem
