MPE V1.8.14: Changes in Colour Behaviours in Calendar

Simply, what used to appear as white text on a coloured background (say, red) through the 'standard' colour picker on the desktop... now appears as black on red in MPE... but still appears as white text on a red background on the phone. This happens with existing appointments (entered in MPE v1.8.7) and newly entered appointments.

If the appointment is a repeating item, the red background becomes a 'salmon' colour and the text becomes black when viewed on the phone. However, if the colour selected in MPE is 'purple', the text is white in MPE and white on purple on the phone. So, the 'mapping' of colours and (black/white) usage is inconsistent.

Is there any way to customize the behaviour of the colours... or can the program use some method to examine background colour and use some function of luminence to assign the text colour? Can the program be modified to use a 'user-defined' colour map/palette?

MPE has always a great program... and is a life saver... but has become a little less usable for me with this new version.
