Moving Thunderbird profile stops sync from working

My sync of contacts and calendar stopped working and presents the following error message: "Thunderbird already started with another user-profile. Please close Thunderbird before continuing."

I believe the root cause is self inflicted since I recently moved the location of my Thunderbird profile. It is still the same Thunderbird profile, it is just now located on a different disk on my computer. I encountered the error the first time I tried to sync after relocating my thunderbird profile.

I am unable to find any Thunderbird profile configuration options in order to change myphoneexplorer to recognize the new profile location.

I tried to work around this by adding a new User to myphoneexplorer, but since it is the same phone the add new user action completed without doing anything. No error message, no new user.

I am using myphoneexplorer v1.8.12 & Thunderbird 60.9.1.

If I close thunderbird then i get the following error: The Myphoneexplorer-extension is either not installed or is too old. i have confirmed that extension v2.0.25 is installed in thunderbird.

So: How do i get things working again after moving my thunderbird profile?

I have verified that moving the thunderbird profile is the cause of the problem. I undid the move by configuring thunderbird to use my prior profile (i had not deleted any data) and sync is now back working properly.

I really want to be able to move my thinderbird profile to a different location since I want it to be included in my automated backup.

SO: How do i get myphoneexplorer to allow a relocate of a thunderbird profile?

I changed the myphoeexplorer sync setting to not sync to thunderbird, sync worked, then i tried to add thunderbird sync back and i got the same error that thunderbird was using a different profile.

Thoughts? Idea?
