Restore SMS to phone from archive (computer)

Phone: Huawei Y7 (2017) TRT-LX2 Android 7.0
Computer: Laptop running Windows 10
Connection: Wifi

I did a factory restore on my phone today. Beforehand I created a MPE backup on my laptop including all SMS conversations - 7151 messages in all.

I restored from backup and everything went fine except for the SMS. I got a message saying that SMS had been deleted from the phone and did I want to delete the backed-up messages or archive them. I chose archive.

How do I now restore the SMS to the phone from the archive?

edit: So I have found a way to select all the SMS in the archive, but when I click the blue up arrow to upload, each SMS has it's own error message, all 7151 of them.

I'm getting the same response restoring from MPE archive back to my phone. I don't share the same model or make as you do, but the same type of situation. My error just states:

Message could not be stored!
14:46:11.42 [RX]: +CMGW: PERMISSION DENIED
14:46:11.42 [RX]: ERROR

Just having a little trouble with permissions I guess, but from the phone's side, it looks like all permissions are granted.

Issue is on an OPPO AX5, trouble shooted with same response connecting bluetooth, USB (in debugging mode) and WiFi.

Sorry that this is not solving the problem carkitter59, but just to say you're not the only one.
