Sync files: delete files (computer)/duplicate them (phone)

Hello everybody.
I have been using MPE for years (with satisfaction as it is the best application that I ever found to sync Outlook's Calendar and Contacts, and personal files too).
So I am very familiar with it (although some aspects remain mysterious to me).

Today I am facing a SERIOUS PROBLEM IN SYNCING FILES.
I launched the MultiSync and everything ran apparently well for Contacts, Organizer, Calls and Messages, but for files the following issue rose up:

¤ In "Sync both" mode (my usual parameter):
MPE proposes to delete my files on computer (>1700 files).
In the right column, the sub-windows for "Entry in phone" are blank (as if the files didn't exist in the phone).
I checked that: they do still exist on the phone.
I have not made any changes to the location of the files either on the phone or on the computer.

¤ In the "Force computer->phone" mode:
MPE proposes to create the files in the phone (that's to say to duplicate them as they already exist).

¤ In the "Force phone->computer" mode:
same proposal as for "Sync both" mode (delete).

According to some posts "Download entire" could be a solution (although what happens consecutively to this action remains vague) but:
1] MPE correctly lists the folders and files (suggesting it takes in account the files present on the phone).
2] The "Download entire" arrow is grey and unavailable.

I tried, of course, the usual and basic handling: relaunch MPE, relaunch Windows, reinstall of MPE (usual install with data preserved). => same proposals for synch and same unavailability for "Download entire".

If any expert could provide any argued proposal, it would be great.

Rename the folder on the PC to e.g. 'Foldername.old'
Create a new folder 'Foldername'
Force sync mobile => PC

1] I would be sorry being obliged to do so because my computer update is more reliable.
2] What is the explanation of the phenomenon that occurred ?

You can test the following:
- Install the latest MPE-Client 2.5 on the phone
- Install MPE nightly

Without having identified the problem, blindly testing a procedure to see if it works is not a satisfactory solution.
