I have used MPE a long time! Very Happy
I have various old phones under (EDIT to correct path) C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\MyPhoneExplorer\[Phonename ID-Nr]

I would like to move/delete the old cache folders as they are taking up a lot of space.

However I want my current phone to still sync correctly and I want MPE to open and run without issues.

If I manually delete or move this folders from windows explorer will that be okay?
Thanks,
BJB

I might have to just wing this if no one knows.....
My old phones are taking up like 40GB of space...

Just want to make sure if I delete that MPE doesn't blow up and stop syncing my current phone.

Thanks,
BJB

As can be seen in the Advanced settings 2, there is an option to delete the file cache on exit. Using this option when accessing the former users for the old and probably now non-existent phones keeps the remaining data volume small. Using this way should not obstruct MPE operation.

Thanks. This is probably a very stupid question.....but how do I switch phones in desktop MPE?

And how do then switch back to the current live phone?

And then I assume what I would do is go to each phone, change advanced setting, and exit MPE.

Then...switch to my current phone and UNCHECK that setting so I don't delete the cache for my current phone!

Scary Surprised

By any chance does it change the recommendation if I never plan to access those phones from MPE again as they don't exist. And I might just want to move those file somewhere as a historical backup vs. deleting. Maybe just move?

Thanks a lot,

BJB

It's about a cache. A cache is a cache, not a backup.

I am not familiar enough with MPE to confirm such actions; maybe only the progrogrammer could do so. Using the built-in functions of an application is usually a safe way, all external interferance is at own risk, which might be reduced by backup operations which allow restore the previous state.

Understood. Thanks, I will backup the cache files and then go through the phone change process and delete on exit.

I know a cache should be a cache but there are tons of pictures on there from phones long gone...which SHOULD be backed up somewhere else, but just in case.

Really appreciate the help.

Now if I can get the answer to my year old question if you can run Google Calendar and contacts cloud backup along with MPE outlook PC sync without causing issues. Smile

Thanks,
BJB

BJB hat Folgendes geschrieben:
I have various old phones under Users/Appdata/Cache/Phonename
This path is not used by MyPhoneExplorer Confused
The default path of MPE-Database is c:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\MyPhoneExplorer\[Phonename ID-Nr]
The subfolder "Cache" is also located here
You can easily delete the contents of these cache folders.

No, with this constellation there will sooner or later be problems (duplicates)

Thanks! Yes, that is the correct path, I will edit and correct for future readers.

And thanks for the input on the ability to use Google cloud backup. Would be nice to have two backups, one on your PC PST file and one in the cloud....
Too bad it won't work.

Google calendar does not keep the old calendar history that MPE does so that is a strong consideration to keep syncing to the Outlook PST.
