I have used MPE for years now and it has been so great for me.
It would seem that I can't use my Samsung S10e phones the same way I could use my Sony phones with MPE. The two Samsung S10e phones connect as the same phone to MPE even though one is a dual sim and the other single sim. Bluetooth connects, but even though the phones have different names the phone connect as whatever the first user id that was added. so I cannot add a new user. One of the phones will not download the messages from the phone and stops at 5mb and says "OBEX error code 00- Phone didn't answer-time out"
this is disappointing as MPE has done everything I want in the past.
I have tries uninstall and reinstall. Reboot computer, different computer, reboot phone, bluetooth, cable, all no change. If any Samsung users here can shed some light on this, it would be great.

Sorry about that, I was aware of double posting, but I was posting about the issue of messages timing out and was referring to the other problems for context. I won't do that again.
