Hi,
I've got a Windows 10 installation that I am thinking of re-installing from scratch and I've had MyPhoneExplorer installed on it for many years, with the databases (text history, call history, etc) of a number of phones I have used.
I am aware I can create backups in the program (which I have) and restore them in a new installation of Windows and MPE, but if I was to copy the files and folders stored in C:\Users\Alex\AppData\Roaming\MyPhoneExplorer to the same folder on a new install, will they automatically be seen and imported by a new, fresh installation of MyPhoneExplorer?
Thanks! |

So the program will behave as if the data to be restored were ever there. This is what a PC backup program would do.
However, in general, to be safe with any program, you should only use the procedures available through their user interfaces instead of replacing their private data bypassing the program's functions. This could lead to malfunction if any path changed with the new installation of if the program stores some data elsewhere (registry for example) which is not restored or updated.
And of course, the affected programs (MPE) must not be running while their data is modified externally.
The backups created from MPE are just "special" single files which would not automatically be recognized but are for use with the restore function. These combine the contents of several files in a single backup file, so the restore has to extract data of the backup files and distribute them to the various MPE database files. |

Yes, but as eck-m already mentioned, you should note the following:
Any adaptation of the paths at ...
1. ... the Foto-Sync function
2 .... the existing file jobs |
