Exempting subfolders from the action of a File-Sync job ?

Beitrag von JPB »

Hello everyone.
I am very satisfied with the synchronization that MPE allows for contacts, calendar, messages etc. without hosting data who knows where, with potential occult use of it, as other synchronization systems generally do.
But it's the "Sync files" feature that, for me, makes MPE irreplaceable.

MY PROBLEM :
I'm looking for the possibility of exempting subfolders from the action of a File-Sync job.
If this were possible, it would help me manage multiple File-Sync jobs.
I achieve my goals by using a workaround, but if there were a way to exclude folders from the File-Sync job, the result would be cleaner, faster, and would save disk space.

NB: Folders, not files, which I know can be generically excluded by their extensions.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know what workaround you are using but the only way to achieve your goal would be to define several sync-jobs one for each subfolder each.

Excluding subfolders should be possible in the later versions of MyPhoneExplorer, i am not sure when i did integrate this.
Install the latest 2.2 and then the update to the current beta: https://www.fjsoft.at/files/MyPhoneExpl ... Update.exe

The excluding filter should look like this: *\excluded_folder\*

Hallo Koelner, hello Ditind.
Yes Koelner, that's how I do it (i.e., I've created several File-sync jobs).

The first job synchronizes a folder containing all types of personal files, with confirmation required.
The second job synchronizes the separate DCIM folder, with confirmation required.
The third job synchronizes \Internal storage\ by mirroring (Phone->PC, as “reflect folder”), without confirmation.

For the first two jobs, I prefer to take the time to quickly check and then confirm, as various incidents can occur.
For the third job, the goal is to have a backup copy of the system folders. However, since \Internal storage\ contains my personnal folder and the DCIM folder, the sync of these folders is duplicated, which takes time and space unnecessarily.

PS : My Android V° was 14, then 15, and now it is 16.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen.

Hallo FJ.
I've been overworked, so I have not taken the time to install the beta version you kindly offered to me.
However, I did download version 2.3, as it was released before I had time to install the beta version, and because I hoped it would include the improvements present in this beta version.

In any case, in version 2.3, I still don't see the option to exclude folders from a File-Sync job.
Is it still useful for me to install this beta over 2.3?

Mit freundlichen Grüßen.

@JPB
Excluding folders with the filter *\excluded_folder\* works perfectly for me with all versions (from 1.8.7 onwards) ?!
For you:

Code: Alles auswählen

*\my personnal folder\*;*\DCIM\*
or

Code: Alles auswählen

\my personnal folder*;\DCIM*
Have I misunderstood something?

OK FJ and icke1954.
icke1954, there's absolutely no mistake on your part.

I was unsure of the procedure because I didn't see anything about excluding folders in the options displayed in the MPE interface.

In the meantime, I tried the filter shown in the image linked here, and whose format you confirmed in your message.

Do you see any errors in these settings, or do you have any advice for me?

Everything seems to be working perfectly.
Vielen Dank.

The structure is OK. However, I cannot judge whether the folder "d- jpb" is correct?

I understand, but the name of this folder is correct.
And excluding both folders using this filter works perfectly.
Vielen Dank für FJ und icke1954.

Where can I find the syntax *\excluded_folder\* on the MPE website?
I couldn't find it.
Did I miss something?
