Hi, I really like this app, but on my laptop I can't install it.
The installer hangs on registering sport.dll, which I found out I could bypass by trying to log out and then cancel the logout when windows reports that the installer is preventing the logout procedure.
When I try to uninstall myphone explorer is hangs on executing windows sidebar!?
I am using Windows Vista Business. |

Run the setup via rightclick->Run as Administrator, disable Windows DEP and disable UAC. Disable (only for testing) also the Anti-Virus-Software. Maybe this helps. Otherwise search for the forum for this error. Its a known error but currently i don't know why it hangs. |

I don't use antivirus software, as I find they create more problems than they solve. I will look at those other suggestions. |

If you are not able to fix it with the suggestions, tell me cause i have an idea which has to be tested with a user who has this problem. |

No, it didn't work.
But I think I read in another thread that someone got it working by installing it in compatibility mode for Win2000, so I tried that, and it worked!
If you still want me to try something else, I'll be happy to do that. |

When installing on Windows 7, the setup freezes for a while and then displays error message during registration of SPort.dll. Then it finishes and upon starting the MyPhoneExplorer the error message comes again: "Error when unpacking program, code 2. Plesae report..." - trhee times and after that: Runtime error 339.
Installing as administrator or running setup in compatibility mode doesn't work either.
On earlier versions of MPE on Win7 I managed to solve this problem setting compatibility mode for regsp.exe in MPE home directory to Windows XP SP2, but this doesn't seem to work enymore...
And now I'm sad... |

I had this problem on Vista and Windows7. Not always - and I do not know why.
Then I had a new windows7 install and it could not get over registering sport.dll
Switching UAC off did not help.
Disabling antivirus and defense programs did not help.
Run as Administrator did not help.
So finally I downloaded the old version: 1.6.7 of MyPhoneExplorer
It installed correctly but when I wanted to run it then it said:
"serial port activex control is not registered" and it wanted me to enter name and code.
So then I ran the installer of 1.7.4 and it could register sport.dll!
And it works fine! |
