Hi,

I like your MyPhoneExplorer software. However, after archiving some messages (double-checking they were saved!) and closing the program, I noticed another 'copy' was running in the background. Probably due to too many clicks on the icon on a slow-startup PC.

I then closed this second copy, re-opened MyPhoneExplorer and surprise! The new archived data and changes had been lost (3 months worth!). After a quick look at the data-structure, I guess you're storing most data in single .dat files which get overwritten when the application quits?

Suggestions:
1) Introduce a lock-file to prevent multiple copies running, if only one copy can reliably access the .dat files at a time.
2) Make backup copies of .dat files before overwriting
3) Perhaps store archive data in true sub-directories, rather than in one .dat file?

A nasty glitch in otherwise good software.

Thanks and regards,

Alex

Update: luckily in my paranoia, I had saved a MyPhoneExplorer backup after archiving. I managed to restore this to get the 'lost' content. Phew!

Also, looks like once MPE is running, it will not allow another copy to run. This is only an issue if you run two copies before the first one properly starts running, so lock-file is still needed.

Cheers,

Alex
