I'm using MPE together with Outlook and MyLocalAccount
As I have a lot of Contacts in Outlook that I don't need on my Phone(s), I'm using a Category in Outlook to indicate that a Contact should be synced and this Category is specified as Exception in MPE.
Working fine until I remove the Category from the contact in Outlook. When synced MPE does see the change and I get the normal comparison between Phone-content and Outlook-content and the Comparison-options what to do.
But, there is no way to indicate the Contact should be removed from the Phone.
I think the same applies to the Exception-option "Add new contacts from Outlook only if they contain at least one phone number." when the content changes and that condition is no longer met.
As a result those Contacts remain forever on the Phone if no additional delete is done.
If the Comparison-option "never sync again" is used, and the Category (or Phone number) is added again afterwards, that Contact will not sync again. So not a work-around. |

Unfortunately that is correct, that's why it says 'Add new contacts from Outlook only...' and not 'Sync contacts from Outlook only...'
Workaround: Delete the contact in MPE and during sync = cancellation when the confirmation window is displayed |

Can you not delete your contacts storage on the phone (i.e. delete all contacts) then re-sync so that only current numbers are then on the phone? (though it'd need repeating when old numbers built up again). |

Solution
Supplement:
It would also be possible to assign a new category, e.g. "del_phone".
Then you could delete them specifically in MPE |

Of course, but that's what I want to avoid.
IMHO the delete-option is missing.
Is contact in phone ? YES
Following sync-creteria, would it be added ? NO
--> Delete from phone-option

Unfortunately, it's not as easy as you imagine.
1. The delete function in MPE is only offered if a contact does not exist on one side (Outlook or Mobile/MPE).
But that is not the case here
2. Two options would then have to be implemented
- Change of category in Outlook
- Deletion in cell phone/MPE
3. If the category is removed in MPE or in the cell phone, synchronization with Outlook would no longer be possible because the contact no longer exists on the cell phone/MPE.
Nevertheless, thank you for the tip, I will forward your request to FJ |
