Failure to update MPE Client v1.0.14 on HTC Desire (Android

MPE release 1.8.4 is causing me numerous problems, in an environment of Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit on laptop, and Android 2.2.2 on the Desire. Here's what I take to be the most important:

Making a connection by USB via the HTC Desire - running MPE as above - fails in around 50 per cent of attempts, and provokes the prompt below.

The app 'My Phone Explorer Client' on your phone is outdated. Its [ sic; you mean 'It's' ] necessary to update the app. Do you wish to make this update now?

Punching "Yes" only runs MPE into a loop, which repeatedly throws up the same prompt. No update is either downloaded or installed.

Your step-by-step solution, please, to either
a) wiping the Client and starting again
b) keeping the software as already loaded, and breaking this loop

For two years, I've been a very appreciative user of your very valuable MPE. But I feel v1.8.4 is at best, an unsure advance. Thanks. AT

Something fails with the update, plesae post the logfile after the message was shown two times.

You can update MyPhoneExplorer Client also throught Google Play - as every other app can be updated throught Google Play too.

"Post a logfile", you ask. Sorry, but you must explain how I can do this for you. Best wishes, Alban Thurston

"Please post the logfile", you ask. Sorry, but I have no idea what that means. Please explain, and in very simple, step-by-step terms.

Concerning Google Play, thanks for presenting the option. However, please be informed that I have an aversion, amounting to a horror, of using intermediate, indirect platforms such as Google or Twitter to perform simple tasks like updates.

Most people are not in love with software; instead they value it when it performs what its promoters promise it will, or when it performs the functions on which they have come to rely in the past . When software starts being difficult, or begins failing to deliver those previously reliable functions, then you lose the confidence of your client base.

I think it's in this MPE menu :
Menu-->File-->Settings-->Show logfile
