Before anyone screams "It can't do that!", trust me it did - twice.
Downloaded from the site and attempted install. It failed on the install. Immediately following that NO program would run on my computer because of wrong permissions. Plus it said that various DLLs weren't the right version for Windows.
The first time, 3 reboots managed to clear the problem. Tried installing again - same fail. Same permission issue. This time I cleared the whole mess off the computer, both files and registry entries, in safe mode.
So, as a warning, on Win 7 64bit, DON'T attempt an install.
1.8.6 is broken and destroyed my computer permissions

I'm sorry to hear of your problems but simply do not believe they are to do with MPE.trogladyte hat geschrieben:Before anyone screams "It can't do that!", trust me it did - twice.

I am running MP£ 1.8.6 on win 7 64 bit and I've installed both this version and more up-to-date debug versions, without the slightest issue.
I genuinely believe there must be some other explanation for the errors you have experienced.
Jsut off the top of my head:
- do you have an antivirus active on your PC? I would recommend that you fully deactivate it, prior to installation of any software.
- all those bizarre errors remind me of RAM problems - random weird issues that occur when things like that just shouldn't happen.
- about the only other issues I can think of are harddrive corruption (SSD or HDD) or damage to your registry (no idea why this would have happened though).
First 3 reboots leading to recovery sound like your system is trying previous configurations and/or system backups.
I believe there is something wrong with your hardware or OS. What you report simply cannot be attributed to MPE.
I do hope you can find the root cause of your troubles.
Regards,
Gary
I use myself Win7 64bit and i think this is the most popular environment at all. And i never heard about this issue. So in this case i really think that there is another damage on your Windows which caused the issue
