syncing or restoring call log to phone

hi all

2 quick questions regarding syncing to lollipop

I've just done a factory reset after upgrading my z3 compact from Sony stock android 4.4.4 to Sony's stock 5.0.2 build of lollipop.

2 issues:


1) I can't seem to get my MPE call log to replicate / restore / sync to my phone.

New call entries on my phone get appended to my MPE call log but I can't get the call log to go the other way.

How do I do this?


2) I've managed to push my store of text messages to my phone (EDIT: I archived all conversations, deleted from phone and main MPE conversations, then uploaded from archive to phone). However, my conversations have been written with the time-stamp of when they were synced.

I've looked at the individual messages in the conversations and can see the last entry has a correct time stamp but when browsing the conversations, the time stamp is the sync time, not the last message time.

With normal use the conversation timestamp should be the same as when the last message was received.

Is there any way to force the last message timestamp to replace the sync time?

EDIT: I've looked more closely at the restored text conversations and I have realised that although individual text messages have what looks like the correct date & timestamp, they are grouped by sender then receiver (i.e. by person, within a conversation), rather than chronologically

EDIT2: I've found a workround for the SMS sorting/grouping problem. I used a 3rd party app (am I allowed to mention this here? I have no connection to the app - it's SMS backup and restore). I backed up the phone messages (i.e. those successfully restored by MPE) using SMS backup and restore, deleted the phone messages, then restored from the SMS backup and restore backup. The app appears to restore messages then 'processes' the conversations, presumably to order the texts correctly. Worked perfectly though.

Hope all this makes sense.

I'm currently using a development build of MPE (1.8.6 nightly 02/11/2014) with phone client 1.0.34.

I am in the same situation: I want to push (sync) the call log from MPE to my phone.

Did you find why Syncing does nothing? Is it just one way path from phone to MPE?

I'm really sorry but this thread is not far off 2 years old. I can't honestly remember how I fixed stuff.

I didn't get a reply from this forum or the author.

The call logs appear to only move one way with MPE but I'm not 100% on that - it's a very long time since I was wrestling with them!

The app I mentioned (SMS backup and restore by Carbonite) will backup your call logs too. The only issue is that MMS messages, when restored, don't get sorted by date for some reason. Normal texts are fine.

As per my previous post on this thread, it was fiddly but I was able to restore text messages to my phone if they had been archived. Note that MMS messages don't get backed up by MPE. You'd probably find it easier to use other options for backing up your texts and call logs.

As far as I'm concerned, it's the MPE calendar syncing that is indispensable. The send text options are pretty nice too - i find it easier to use MPE to send group texts (as you can create groups easily AND filtering contacts is nicely handled).

Same scenario with me: I used MPE for syncing (Outlook) Calendar. The rest were nice, but not indispensable.

MPE has become a necessity now that I switched to a Xiaomi mobile. Their official application for managing the PC-mobile connection is not working for Marshmallow devices!

Hi All!
I have some issues with MPE 1.8.7, 1.8.8 while working with Call Log Window
1) It's impossible to extend "Name" column width - width conntrol is mooved by mouse but column width remains the same. The only result of such attempts are strange black vertical lines in the window
2) MPE doesn't show old calls (earlier than 3-4 months)
3) MPE doesn't show erase these old calls: erasing is showing in prorgress and seems to be finished sucessfully in MPE but in fact "erased" calls still remain in my phone
4) MPE doesn't sync call log from MPE to phone by pressing "Sync" button - only possible direction is from phone to MPE
5) MPE doesn't restore correctly call log to phone previously saved in file *.mpd by means of "Extras\Create Backup" - having backup from November,1 to January, 14, I have got call log only till December, 5 after restoring call log from file to phone
It seems to me that this part of MPE needs to be hardly fixed. When this happens I promise to support MPE authors with my donations!
