Duplicating Contacts every Sync
Duplicating Contacts every Sync
Continue to have MFE duplicate and/or edit my Contacts, with every Contacts sync.
-- old problem - new day - same frustration --
I used a Windows desktop with Outlook, and have an Samsung Android S23 phone. I do have a Google account but don't sync or use it for contacts.
Every time I go to Sync my Contacts, MFE wants to create a new contact in Outlook for every person I already have. At times, after tests, now have 3 or 4 records for same Contact (ie: now have Bob X listed 3 or 4 times, exact same data).
It also normally will 'Edit' Contacts with each sync, random from 20 to 70, of the 200+ Contacts. When I sync again a minute later, it edits a different amount.
This started a couple months after switching to the new S23 phone, not days after initial sync. It seems after an update to someone somewhere, the Contacts sync is screwing up again.
On the phone in MFE, Settings for 'Contacts Accounts to Sync' is set only to Phone and Outlook.
In the MFE on the PC, in Settings, 'Sync' is set to Contacts and 'Multi-Sync' is set to 'Sync Phonebook'.
I tried changing the first to only Outlook, seemed to help but then did not get any new people added to Outlook from phone.
Seems this issue has been happening for years, from reading various posts here. Seems by default it would only sync the phone and primary desktop source, selected in setup.
So looking for suggestions for July 2023, as many past postings have not help get to a resolution...
...now off to delete 200+ duplicates in Outlook, AGAIN
thanks,
Frolin

- Install the MPE nightly
- Create an MPE backup file (just in case)
- Activate under phone => MPE-Client => Settings => contact-accounts to sync only Phone
- MPE (PC) => contacts => Blue Arrow (Download entire )
- Sync
- MPE (PC) => contacts => Search duplicates
- Sync

Icke,
Now clear on your steps, as those words do not match up to menus on the Windows desktop or Android phone.
but I tried something and it deleted all he contacts in Outlook, so going to a backup.
Sure if sad, MPE and phones have changed such, where years ago never saw these problems, today making the interface unsafe.
BTW - am using MPE v2.0 on Windows 10, and MPE Client v3.0 on Samsung S23 on Android, if have those steps.

Correct would be:Frolin hat geschrieben:On the phone in MFE, Settings for 'Contacts Accounts to Sync' is set only to Phone and Outlook.
On the phone in MFE, Settings for 'Contacts Accounts to Sync' is set only to 'Phone' .
Can you tell us what you tried?Frolin hat geschrieben:but I tried something and it deleted all he contacts in Outlook, so going to a backup.

MPE => F2 => Contacts => Advanced... => Show conformation windows before MyPhoneExplorer makes any changes
Show if there are 1 ore more changes
duplicating - started again
Hello Again, same issue as started with. It seems settings got updated and screwed up, and now seeing duplicated in the phone.
I revised some Contacts in Outlook, adding a z- in front of name for sorting select older contacts to the to end of list.
When I synced it updated the contact on the phone and in MFE but also duplicated the entry on the Phone.
Still using a Android, Samsung S23 phone and the default Contacts.
On the phone, MFE has/had in settings...
- under Contact-Accounts to sync
- Phone and Outlook (my email), both checked
On the Window 10 desktop, Outlook 2019 and it's Contacts, in MFE, under File, Settings, Sync...
- Contacts, is set to Outlook
- under it, Contact-accounts to sync, both Phone and Outlook checked
Are these correct, for just sync'ing my desk Outlook Contacts with my Android phone contacts ?
Did not change anything, guessing MFE did auto updates on Android and maybe something changed there?

You have your Outlook-Account as Contact account in the phone? On the phone, MFE has/had in settings...

If yes then probably the Outlook-App of the phone itself syncs with Outlook. In this case you should NOT use MyPhoneExplorer to sync the same data throught a second way.

You have already written twice that you have activated Telephone and Outlook in the contact accounts to be synchronized:?
1.
I would just implement that

You have now been advised twice to only activate the one contact account “Phone” if you want to avoid duplicate contacts.Frolin hat geschrieben:On the phone, MFE has/had in settings...
