Windows 10, MyPhoneExplorer 2.2 (also tried 20/10/2025 nightly). Current non-beta app.
I have a large folder on the PC I want to copy to the phone. The folder has about 10k files, 500 sub folders, and about 33GB.
I created a folder on the phone, selected all the sub folders on the PC, dragged and dropped them across. It took a while but all seemed OK.
When I started looking at the files on the phone a bunch of them had been placed in the wrong folder. If I drag and drop all the folders again I get the box showing existing files. I click select none and OK and it copies across 30-40 files. All the files it put in the wrong place and it puts some of them in a different wrong place.
I then noticed MyPhoneExplorer has a file sync function (nice BTW, I had not noticed that before) so I set up a PC->phone reflect sync for the folder and that works OK. It deleted the misplaced files and copied them to where they should be.
The problem is random, but, not completely. I notice a folder with 7 files would get 4 in the right place and 3 somewhere else and it might get 3 files from somewhere else. I deleted that folder and dragged and dropped the whole lot across and all the files went somewhere else and the folder wasn't recreated.
None of the files or folders have funny characters in the names. I think there is some kind of corruption going on with the list of copies to do and the target folders for them.
I hope you can manage to reproduce the problem. |

Are you able to reproduce the bug everytime or does it happen randomly for you? |

Yes is it reproducible and actually not random.
I synced the phone then deleted a folder with 7 files then dragged and dropped all folders from the PC. The deleted folder was not restored and 7 files were copied.
I synced and it gave me a list of those 7 files to delete. They were in 6 different folders.
I repeated the above and got the 7 files in the same wrong folders.
I then deleted the folder again and dragged and dropped all the folders twice. After that sync showed me 14 files to delete. Some were different files in the same wrong folders a few went to different wrong folders.
What I thought was randomness was the phone not being in the same state. |

- run MyPhoneExplorer in Debugmode: Win-Key+R -> myphoneexplorer debug -> OK
- reproduce the problem / make a file sync
- darg/drop the files on the PC
- make again a file sync
- now send me the logfile (maybe zipped in a separate mail because it will contain probably alot data)
- and send me a second email with the filenames and paths you did delete, and also a link to this thread |

Too much personal information in the log file. I looked and it isn't going to tell you much anyway.
The phone was synced. I deleted a folder "Water Drops" containing 7 files. There are 10268 files on the PC.
The log from dragging and dropping all folders contained this (trimmed) info
| Code: | 15:47:01.38 fOverwrite_Ask for 10261 Files
15:47:10.38 OBEX SetPath: \sdcard\Pictures\Photo share
15:47:10.50 OBEX SetPath: U3AW
15:47:10.59 OBEX FilePut: \\TS233\Public\Photo share\Water Drops\P5390901e1.jpg
15:47:10.98 CacheCopy: \\TS233\Public\Photo share\Water Drops\P5390901e1.jpg -> C:\Users\XYZ\AppData\Roaming\MyPhoneExplorer\Xiaomi 25010PN30G [xxxxxxx]\Cache\sdcard\Pictures\Photo share\U3AW\P5390901e1.jpg
15:47:10.98 CacheCopy result: True 0 0
15:47:10.98 Read Folder Start \sdcard\Pictures\Photo share\U3AW\
15:47:10.98 OBEX GetFolderListing
|
That is the first mention of "Water Drops" and P5390901e1.jpg in the log file.
5390901e1.jpg is the first of the 7 files it copied to completely wrong folders. It looks like running Myphoneexplorer in debug mode changed which wrong folders the files went to. \\TS233 is a network drive. To be sure I copied to a local drive and dragged and dropped from there and got the same result.
Dragging and dropping onto the phone when it is synced and selecting none to overwrite doesn't copy any files. So it is comparing the phone and PC OK. It is screwing up where to copy missing files. |

I understand that you want to keep your privacy but it makes the error trapping harder. Can you email me at least the screenshot of your file sync job settings?
Where did you delete the "Water Drops" folder? On the PC or on the phone? |

The sync job to put the PC folders on the Phone is just:
Source: \\TS233\Public\Photo Share
Target: \Internal storage\Pictures\Photo share\
checked:
PC --> Phone, include subfolders, include empty folders, Reflect folder
I delete "Water Drops" on the phone. Dragging and dropping all folders from the PC asks me if I want to overwrite 10261 files. I select none and it copies the 7 files from the "Water Drops" folder to the phone. The problem is the "Water Drops" folder is not created on the phone and the files are copied to other folders.
The log above shows the first file from "Water Drops" on the PC being copied to U3AW on the phone.
If I immediately drag and drop them all again it will copy the 7 files to the phone again and they will go into different wrong folders presumably because
file and folder information from the phone has been changed by the presence of the first wrongly copied 7 files.
If I don't delete the "Water Drops" folder it asks if I want to overwrite 10268 files (number obtained from log file) after selecting none it correctly does nothing.
If on the phone I just delete the 7 files in the "Water Drops" folder and drag and drop all folders it copies the 7 files to a different set of wrong folders.
If on the phone I delete the "Water Drops" then select 10 folders on the PC including "Water Drops" and drag and drop them then it copied 1 file to the wrong folder and the other 6 were correctly copied to "Water Drops".
If on the phone I delete the "Water Drops" then select just "Water Drops" on the PC and drag and drop it worked OK.
You have some corruption going on between the list of files that need to be copied to the phone and where you think they need to be copied to. |

Thanks for the information!
I was able to reproduce the problem when copying using drag and drop and have sent the relevant information to FJ.
However, the problem shouldn't occur when syncing via the defined file job, right? |

Thanks for the confirmation. Sync works OK and better meets my needs so the bug isn't bothering me, however, it is a bug and I have tried to help fix it.
I doubt logs are going to help FJ much. They confirm it is going wrong, but, I couldn't see anything to help understand where or how it is going wrong. |

I deleted a folder on the phone and dragged and dropped all again and it behaved as expected.
It appears to be fixed although that isn't much testing.
Thanks. |
