Sync Notes - MPE Crashes when number of notes is too many?!

Hi,

I have been using MPE for many years. In 2023, I could not sync with my MPE notes as it will crash the programme in the middle of the sync. I tried many times in between then and now as well as installing the new version of the MPE 2.1. It is still crashing.

I changed the Outlook file to sync today and copying small amount of Notes each time to the new file. I tried to sync each time when I copied about 200-300 Notes and it was working fine until I reached to about 1700 entries.

I would like to know if there is a limit in the total amount of Notes (or bytes) for synchronization?

I guess, it is happening for the same reason for calendar, right?

I just tested it with about 2000 notes and can't reproduce your problem.
Please install:
1. MPE- Nightly
2. Den neuesten Client auf dem Handy

I have installed the MPE - Nightly and updated the client app on my phone but it is still crashing in the middle of the synchronization.

Please run MyPhoneExplorer in Debugmode: Win-Key+R -> myphoneexplorer debug ->OK
Then reproduce the crash
After this step please send me the logfile, you have to open it manually, otherwise it will be cleared with the next start of MyPhoneExplorer: Win-Key+R -> %appdata%\MyPhoneExplorer\Debug.txt -> OK

I did send you a new beta with instructions which should help me to fix the issue but again i am missing your answer via email. So if you did send me the updated logfile please do it again - got no message from you.

I have received your new beta. I have installed it but it is still not working. I have resent again my debug.txt to you by replying to your email just now.

Sorry, you did send me again the old logfile from 27th May 2024.
I need a fresh logfile created from the installed beta.

I'm having a similar issue, but only after reaching 10,000+ notes... Is there an easy/quick way to delete a batch of older notes? I tried via sync to MPE only, then delete 2+ years of notes, then sync to phone - but it takes 15 seconds or so PER message deleted - so like 21 hours to delete 5000+ notes. I did a Google search on the subject, but it was no help since I can't find the "Create Backup" function it mentions for the notes.db file... I can create a new post if necessary. Thanks 😊

What don't you understand about that?
Note: MPE => F2 => Connection => Write log file must be enabled.

Where is the "MPE database folder"?

You can find your MPE database folder by default <Win-Key>+<R> => %appdata%\MyPhoneExplorer

If the path has been changed, see MPE => F2 => Advanced 2 => Database or in the registry: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MyPhoneExplorer => Database

ANSWERS:
1. MPE version 2.0, Client version 4.10 (I've seen that message about 5000 note maximum, but only during the sync process, but haven't noticed it lately)
2. WiFi connection
3. Samsung Galaxy S10 (SM-G973U) - Android version 12
4. 39,369KB (38.4MB)

I am only able to perform a 'sync' by disabling the Outlook part, and running a "Download entire" operation... 10,570 notes downloaded and NO mention of the 5000 note maximum. Tried setting the deletion flag on 5163 notes and it failed saying it couldn't connect to the phone between each message it was trying to delete. HOWEVER, switching to 3 months of notes (606 notes), the delete/sync succeeded quickly... I will proceed in smaller chunks and hope to finally prune off a couple or three years of notes.

That's probably the easier version.
Otherwise, you could do the following:
1. Uninstall the MPE client on your phone.
2. On your phone, using a file manager such as "Total Commander," rename the file .MyPhoneExplorer\notes.db, for example, to notes.db_alt.
3. Reinstall the MPE client, confirm access to all rights, and configure the corresponding settings.
4. In MPE on your PC, use the Blue Arrow (Download entire). No notes should be displayed!
5. Create a new notes folder in Outlook and copy only a few notes into it initially.
6. In MPE, press F2, then Synchronization => Notes/Synchronize with => Advanced => Outlook folders to synchronize and activate the new folder.
7. In MPE, force a sync from Outlook to your phone. If that works, you can now increase the number of notes by copying them from the old folder in Outlook to the new folder. I advise you to keep the number of notes as low as possible.
