After trying to use this program and editing my contacts again.. again.. again.. again.. and again, I found I get nowhere. Everything always turns back to a state where I don't want them to, and I found in frustration, I have no idea how the syncronisation works. Let me explain:
For example, I delete a contact (let's name it "DAMMIT") in the computer (MPE). I synchronise. Everythings fine, DAMMIT is disappeared from both the phone and the computer. When I reopen the backup file it says restore backup. OK, why not?. Now DAMMIT is there again. (It wasn't there before I clicked restore backup) But I deleted DAMMIT from the backup? Its wasn't on the phone either? How can this be?
It seems I cant alter the backup file in any way, which makes me curious about how I could create it in the first place. How does the backup and syncronising scheme works, one way or bidirectional? How do I choose it? It seems no one has any troubles with this issue, and I'm not a computer retard, but I just don't get it after hours and days on the computer. I'm really frustrated and I guess I'm unable make use of this nice program.
My phone is w610i, operation system is XP service pack 3 and the program version is 1.7.2. |

The backup-feature downloads the complete datasets of the phone when it gets created - one way, from phone to Backup. When you restore the backup all items in the phone are deleted and then all items from the backup are uploaded to phone - one way, from Backup to phone.

If you did create the backup before DAMMIT was deleted on the phone then this behavior is correct. |

I fully understand you, thanks for the reply. The point is, after creating the backup, I don't delete DAMMIT on my phone, I delete it on MPE. I syncronise, and it is gone from both the phone and MPE. But when I say restore backup, everything that I deleted, created and edited in the backup file (not the phone) seems to reset themselves to their initial state.
To sum it up, I edit the backup file, want to restore it on my phone, but then every change I made is reset for a reason I don't know. If I can't keep the changes in the backup, what's the point in editing them? |

I guess I found a solution. To keep the changes I made in the backup file, I create a backup again and overwrite the previous one.
I think it would be much easier if:
1. There would be a save feature for the changes we made. Changes appear to be made and stay as they are even if you close and reopen. But when you say restore backup, the old content which you can't see on the screen comes back again.
2. Different backup files could be opened and seen directly. Again MPE only shows the last state of the program, not the true contents of the backup. You can only see what's in them if you say restore backup, and its too late already.
I have a weird feeling that this only happens to me, so I won't post this on the Requests thread. Hope this thread helps someone else and not just me. |
