Download: Tool for importing SMS exported my MPE to Android
Hello,
as text messages are very important to me I searched for a solution to import my text messages from my Sony Ericsson to my Android phone. Few days ago SMS Backup & Restore was published for Android phones making a XML file import possible. As the XML format differed from the one you can export from MPE I created a simple (and crude) tool to convert the XML.
If you want you can only import sent or received messages. If you have an archive files containing both sent and received messages my program supports it, too. Name it "mpe_sms.xml" in this case.
Usage:
1. Export your Inbox messages in MPE as XML (Select all, right click, Export, as XML). The file must be called "mpe_sms.xml" and must be placed in the directory of the converter.
2. Export your Sent messages as XML. It must be called "mpe_sms_sent.xml".
3. Start the converter, click on the first button, then on the next button. It will create a file called "sms.xml".
4. Place this file to your Android SD card in "SMSBackupRestore"-Folder.
5. Open SMS Backup & Restore, click Restore.

Found a bug? Any questions? Reply to this post or send me a mail (address can be found in the converter). Auf Deutsch natürlich auch möglich.
Please note: Some of your sent messages might not have the correct timestamp. This is NOT a bug of the converter. See here.
Best greetings and thanks to FJSoftware for his great program.

Sorry to ask but on is this bug happening at the import of MPE files or is the export format wrong?Anonymous hat geschrieben:Many thanks!!
I found a bug in the converter: The "type" must be "1" for inbox messages. For the sent messages this is "2"
I'm asking because of this
My converter ignores the storage node in the exported MPE files.# type - Sent = 2, Received = 1.
Greetings.

When import the MPE files in the converter. All messages (inbox & sent) have type=2.Boni2k hat geschrieben:Sorry to ask but on is this bug happening at the import of MPE files or is the export format wrong?

I think you should put type=2 for mpe_sms_sent.xml and type=1 for mpe_sms.xml...
Thanks!

Can you make something similar for Windows mobile phones?
I have tried to use the MyPhoneExplorer export fuction to XML and several Windows mobile import software but the XML is not compatible with them, any chance to make this work?

Re: Backuped and NEW Android SMS Joining?
No, I don't think so. But it's not a thing of my converter but of SMS Backup & Restore. Do a backup before and you're safe.rooomish hat geschrieben:Hello.

Hey, sorry guys, I only speak English so go easy on me!
I think this is great! Spent over 2 hours of my day trying to figure out how to transfer my SMS's from my C905 to HTC Desire and finally found this...
Only problem is that the sent messages haven't shown up, only the incoming messages. Anyone know the problem?
