I don't think it has to do with the update, if you want to be sure - try it again with 1.8.0

I've given PAW-Server a try today. I've never used it before. I downloaded, installed and started it. It then told me to open "http://192.168.2.10:8080/" in my web browser. I tried to open that URL from my PC and could not connect.

So even with that I have the same issue.

I guess something is blocking connections to my Android device, I just have no idea what it could be. Especially since when I use apps that initiate sync from the device with my PC, those work. So for some reason I can't get connections incoming that attempt to initiate a connection, but if the device initiates something to the PC to sync data that goes fine.

I'll try and see what might be causing this with PAW-Server, obviously what causes that is causing my MPE issues.

Yes, i also think this way.

You could test PAW-Server also on another PC in another network (cause it does need no client, only a browser). It seems the problem is caused from phone, but i really do not believe this cause this would be the first time that a Android-Phone blocks hosted ports. So if you can test another PC/Network then we are one step next.

I've found this issue is definetely in my device, well the ROM it uses. I'm running a Nexus One Froyo Android build on an HTC HD2. So it's a customerized ROM build. Although it is a Nexus One ASOP ROM, it had to be tweaked for the HTC HD2.

After looking around HD2 Android forums, I'm finding many people have issues with any web server apps such as PAW Server. It seems only a minority of Android ROM builds made for the HD2 work.

I don't think many of us HD2 folks who run customized Android ROMs have used web server apps before. (Since we're all former Windows Mobile users.) So it's an area that is not yet getting much focus. But I think in time the ROM chefs will all get this working in their builds. I'll be chatting up the issue to get it more attention.

Worst case, I'll be getting a native Android device later this year, which will resolve this.

Thank you for all your help.

both the devices have/had avg anti virus installed. This is most likely the culprit. Paw server is a good test, thanks

I've updated the Android ROM on my HD2 to a Nexus One Gingerbread build, customized for the HD2. I am now able to WiFi sync, even without specifying the device IP Very Happy .

- Phone = Samsung Epic 4G (SPH-D700) - Sprint US
- Connection = USB
- MPE-version = 1.8.1
- Win 7 Home Premium
- Android FROYO.EC05
- Microsoft Outlook 2007 Contacts & Calendar

I had trouble, at first, syncing my Outlook Calendar but then I tried START MULTI-SYNC under the EXTRAS menu.

Very fast, and good!

Thanks FJ and team!

Embarassing really, I restarted my router and then then both sort worked - meaning the xp10 mp works but my tablet did not. This is a rockchip 2818 based model with a custom Froyo (2.2) firmware (http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/14881-apad710-custom-froyo-rom/)

Any chance of getting mpe to recognise that firmware - can Ijust give you the name from the setup screen?

The problem you're having is very likely nothing that can be resolved by MPE. Like the issue I had with a different Froyo custom ROM on my device, you're going to have to find a customized one that works. Because the issue is most likely in that custom ROM. I now use a customized Gingerbread ROM that works just fine. The ROMs I use are customized for the HTC HD2, so it's nothing you could use. You'll have to find one that works for your device. Because some of these customized ROMs are preventing the device from working with apps that use the device like a server. There's nothing special that can be done within MPE to fix that. You need a different ROM.
