Outlook fields missing
Anyone know how to get ALL of my outlook contact list to transfer to the phone? Right now I get about 90% of the data. For example, I see there are 2 address fields, not 3. No 'pager' number field. Things like that.
My main problem is I have several 'additonal' phone numbers listed as other entries in outlook (pager, business 2, etc). These aren't transfering to my phone, and I need them!
Thanks!

There's another thread on this somewhere on here if you look - and also check out Android forums and xda as it also comes up there. But basically not all Outlook contact fields match up to Android contact fields so only a subset get transferred. You'll have to check the other thread(s) to find out which ones.

MyPhoneExplorer only properly syncrhonizes the following 16 data fields with Outlook. Beware! All other data fields will be deleted from your Outlook database upon resynchronization of your phone with Outlook. Fields like "Categories", "Business2 phone", "Home2 phone", "Other address", etc. won't transfer to your phone, and then will effectively be deleted from Outlook if the phone is synchronized back to Outlook!

Nowadays, you can automatically syncrhonize all of Outlook's data fields for contacts and calendar with your Android device, for free, without using any third party software or apps, by simply adding a free Hotmail account to Outlook and to your Android device. The Hotmail contacts folder and calendar will appear in the left sidebar of Outlook. (You can just copy and paste your current Outlook contacts into it.) And your contacts and calendar items will appear on your phone. (You don't have to use Hotmail for email. You can still use Gmail or whatever you like.) Details are at the following link.

MyPhoneExplorer still has a lot of great features. But for me Hotmail is a much better, seamless way to synchronize contacts and calendars between my Outlook-based desktop PC, my Outlook-based laptop PC, and my Android devices. Once you add a Hotmail account, the syncrhonization happens automatically over any Internet connection, with no other user intervention.

Having looked through the various forums the main problem for me is that Outlook catergories which I assign with colours are not supported by Android so neither MPE, Hotmail or indded any sync app is going to solve that issue.
Second from the above postings the only fields that MPE will NOT sync over and above Hotmail are:
Business 2
Callback
Home 2
Home Fax
Pager
Primary
Other
Nickname
Aniversary
None of which I use which really means I have no reason to stop using MyPhoneExplorer

MPE DOES sync Outlook categories
They're just relabeled as Groups on your phone.

Firstly, I think it's important to note that this is not a problem with MyPhoneExplorer - I had the same problem with HTC Sync before I even discovered MPE. The problem is with Android's choice of which fields to use not matching with Outlook's.
In fact the disappearing fields were the reason that I went looking for an alternative to HTC Sync - I thought it was HTC's software that was causing the problem. Although MPE was infinitely better and easier to use it still resulted in loss of info. I kept restoring my Outlook contact list from backup only to lose it again as soon as I sync'd.
The only solution I found in the end was to rewrite my Outlook entries so that they matched with the fields that Android uses. I went through each of the Outlook entries and copied the entire name (in Outlook Title, First, Middle, Last) into just First & Last. Any extras such as names of children etc had to be put into the Notes field. Hardly ideal and very annoying to have to do it for 280 entries but at least, once done, it's been entirely reliable.

Thanks for your reply.
I do appreciate the issue starts on Android. I was thinking there is a way of creating those fields on android automatically during sync, so that every field eventually gets synced. I think one can add new fields on android for a contact. There are a few thousand contacts, so I can not edit each one...
Please are there any recommended alternatives to the native android contacts app, that does the job?

If the fields are really essential for you then you can try CompanionLink. This software comes wth a own contact application for the phone (DejaOffice), they have at least theoretical the possibility to support all fields

I think you did not understand: Its impossible to save f.e. the children field in the phones contact database. CompanionLink can do it cause they have developed a seperate contacts application for the phone. Before you ask: I will not develop a contacts-app-replacement like DejaOffice. Its too much work

Lets' try to analyze current situation.
1.8.6 released version do support at least one additional field:
"Alias". So now MPE syncs 16 fields....
It's a good news - but the bad news are:
When sync process is carrying out - well-known window's form is showing up: named "Confirmation for sync".
And what is really strange and very disappoint - in this window we can't see ALL fields of this slightly different contact - For me is showing up only 2 fields: first-last names and mobile phone. And that's all!!!
But I can't see there is the difference during sync operation was found!
Developer! Please explain - how you suggest to use such non-informative window?
So - I can only understand and accept next view of this window:
For contact which has difference between Outlook's data and Android's data (for ex. in one field: Company) in this window should be listed ALL info(ALL fields of this contact/entry) in both listboxes: "Entry in phone" and "Entry in Outlook". And the one filed which has difference should be bolded.
So with one quick glance I can find - why some contact is not identical on both sides: phone & Outlook. And what will be changed during sync operation.
Because right now it is absolutely impossible to use "Confirmation for sync" window and the sync operation itself - because I can't see which fields have a diff. And so - I can't make a choice - to force Outlook->phone sync or to force phone->Outlook sync.
I assume developer will quickly provide an answer and release a fixed version of MPE tool soon.
P.S. Right now I've faced with situation when on both listboxes I see identical info - but definitely somewhere my contact in phone is differ from it's "copy" in Outlook - but I do not see where - in which field - with which value!
So it's a really emergency request to fix this bug.

Due lack of space the confirmation windows does not show every detail. I will find a solution for a better confirmation window until the next major release, its on my todo list.
