Time zone shifted events with daylight saving time solution

I have encountered a problem with time synchronization, which I have solved, and although it is not a problem with MyPhoneExplorer per se, I would like to share the solution with you, as I have seen questions here that might indicate posters were having the same difficulty.

The problem was that recurring events in my calendar were displayed with an offset on time zone change. That is, recurring events beginning when daylight saving time is in effect were all displayed as shifted by one hour after it ended.

The most common advice I've seen here is to make sure all system settings relating to time are set properly, but in my case they were, and it was not the problem.

The solution was to set the event timezone in my calendar (I use Thunderbird/Lightning) to "local". Otherwise, Thunderbird will save your event time as UTC, so when the time zone changes, the displayed time will shift. It does not matter that the entered time zone information (the name of your region/city) is technically correct - if the event is one-off, Thunderbird automatically takes DST into account when deciding what UTC time to write into the calendar, but if it is a recurring event, there is no way to do that, so some events will be shifted.

In my case my calendar application was Thunderbird/Lightning, but looking at the forum, it can happen with other applications and importing ics calendars. So, if your problem looks like it involves daylight saving time, check if your event time is saved as "local".
