Embarassing really, I restarted my router and then then both sort worked - meaning the xp10 mp works but my tablet did not. This is a rockchip 2818 based model with a custom Froyo (2.2) firmware (http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/14881-a ... froyo-rom/)
Any chance of getting mpe to recognise that firmware - can Ijust give you the name from the setup screen?

The problem you're having is very likely nothing that can be resolved by MPE. Like the issue I had with a different Froyo custom ROM on my device, you're going to have to find a customized one that works. Because the issue is most likely in that custom ROM. I now use a customized Gingerbread ROM that works just fine. The ROMs I use are customized for the HTC HD2, so it's nothing you could use. You'll have to find one that works for your device. Because some of these customized ROMs are preventing the device from working with apps that use the device like a server. There's nothing special that can be done within MPE to fix that. You need a different ROM.
