I have had problems syncing over the last few days, with MPE adding and then deleting old calendar entries and not putting in new ones from Outlook.
I had the latest MPE and also ran the debug exe file.
Now I have updated the mobile client, and the client stops after about 8 seconds. It also fails to recognise the WiFi ssid (this has never happened before) I can get a connection using the phone's IP but the client still stops after a few seconds and the connection is lost. All permissions seem to be OK
I am using Windows 7, an old version of Outlook (which has worked OK for years) and a Samsung S9

I am having this problem on my Samsung Galaxy S9. Android 9 with respect to the client stopping and Wifi SSID.
Same symptoms as the poster. Says <unknown SSID) for Wifi and MPE client has just stopped frequently.
Running 1.8.11 on Windows 10 Pro on the other side. Office 365 Outlook.
All was working fine until the update 3 days ago. |

i may have partially sorted it. The MPE client was listed as "sleeping", even when just opened. I disabled the battery saving app under settings/device care/battery/menu/settings/put unused apps to sleep (phew!) and it now seems to connect and sync correctly.
Still doesn't recognise ssid but works when I enter the phone IP into MPE. Perhaps its a Galaxy S9 thing... |

I don't think so. It worked fine until the latest client update.
Also using a fixed IP is not a satisfactory workaround. I still need to synchronize while travelling. |

Well, I did say "partial". The ssid issue is troublesome and mine also (mostly) worked prior to the update. |

Got a new update of the client on my S(, version 1.0.56 dated 30th March.
This seems to have fixed the issue for me, so I think it was just a glitch in 1.0.55.
Anyway, all good. Thanks to FJ for the prompt fix. |

I've also updated the app but while it is syncing, it still won't recognise SSID. |

Same for me but appears to work fine, just not displaying SSID correctly for some reason. |

My syncs have also stopped with "unknown ssid" and I have client 1.0.56. At the bottom of the client screen it has a Testbutton and beside states sending UDP broadcast and listening.
The reason my syncs have stopped is due to MPE client not auto starting when my phone connects to my WiFi. There used to be a list of networks that could be selected to auto-start but that's gone now. How can the client auto-start if I can't define the network SSID?
My syncs are run from Windows 10 Task Scheduler throughout the day so I don't have to remember to do it so my calendars and contacts are in sync.
Please fix this so the auto-start works again. |

Not going to happen because of Google's "tweaks" to android. See here ... https://www.fjsoft.at/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30327 ...
Google translate gives us the following in English. Please see the last paragraph:
As of MyPhoneExplorer Client, the following areas will no longer work as of client version 1.0.55:
- SMS write access (= delete SMS, restore secured SMS)
- call list write access (= delete entries in the call list, restore the call list from a backup)
The background to this change is Google's new privacy policy, which basically states that access to the SMS and call history is granted only in exceptional circumstances after Google's employees viewed the app. And even then there are other guidelines such as: Only the standard SMS app may have write access to the SMS memory AND at the same time send / receive SMS. Same applies to the call lists. For me that meant either I declare MyPhoneExplorer as a backup tool and thus get the write access, but must send SMS, receive SMS, start calls, manage call renounce or I declare MyPhoneExplorer as a management tool and must therefore do without the write access. I opted for the second one. Here's a link to the Google article: https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/9047303
If you want to restore your SMS backups then you have to do it the following way:
- first backup the data from "MPE Tasks" and "MPE Notes" with MyPhoneExplorer
- Uninstall MyPhoneExplorer Client
- Download and install MyPhoneExplorer Client v1.0.47 from my webspace: https://www.fjsoft.at/mpeclient_1.0.47.apk
- Restore SMS or call lists
- then play the current version of the client again
Furthermore, apps that are programmed for Android 8 and newer are no longer informed if, for example, the mobile phone dials in another WLAN or if Bluetooth is activated. For this reason, the client can now no longer start automatically in a particular Wi-Fi network, for Bluetooth is the same. |

I have installed the 1.0.47 client and all is good and back the way it was. Google's xxx paranoia has really crippled this excellent app.
Now I need to watch for auto updates occurring on the client which will break it again - uninstall - load old version. Why couldn't a version of each latest client, with this functionality enabled, be made available on this site so we can get the latest updates without losing (what is for some of us) critical functionality? The crippled version could be compliant with Google and placed there. I'd still have to uninstall after an auto-update but at least I could keep features and get new ones.
Google seems to becoming as a n a l on security as Apple. |

I downloaded the APK on my Windows PC and used the MPE existing client to copy it to my phone. Using a file manager on my phone (X-plore) I opened the APK and selected the Android updater. Two updates failed until I saw the instruction to uninstall the MPE client first. After doing that the 1.0.47 client installed fine and is now starting automatically whenever my phone connects to my home WiFi.
Keep a copy of MPE 1.0.47 available on your phone in case it gets updated to a more recent (and broken) version, in which case you'll have to go through the uninstall - install again.
I have turned off auto-update for MPE Client, which means I can no longer do an "Update all". |

Hello-
I HAD a problem connecting my MPE Client to my MPE on Windows 10 Home.
Samsung Galaxy S9 running Android version 9.
I received a Popup telling me that the MPE Client was not configured properly with permissions and would not run in that state. I was taken to the app permissions screen. The permissions looked OK and the problem continued.
I went to the Play Store and disabled Auto Update for the MPE Client app per another posting subject in this Forum.
I Uninstalled the MPE Client and reinstalled it (1.0.5.
The problem seems to be gone.
Thanks to all who design, code and post to this forum.
