Hi Everyone,
Need help with Restoring from BackUp information after Factory Reset.

1. I did full BackUp (all Data(Contacts, Memos, Calendar, SMS) + Apks + Files) of my Motorola-Z2-Force before phone Reset.

2. After Reset i am using: MyPhoneExplorer v2.0 on Win 11_Pro_x64 and "mpeclient_1.0.48.apk" on my phone.

3. I was able Restore all data (only data w/t apk and files) from 500Mb BackUp file.
Everything has been restored except SMS messages.
*Only Archived SMS was partially restored, but less than 2140 of archived sms. Total i have 34K backed up sms from my phone.

Everything works fine for Contacts, memos, Calendar, THANK YOU!
I expected from Restore process the same: full data restore w/t hidden restriction for sms and attachments too.


***I tried to Archive all sms and Export it, but App constantly crashed during export process (i guess because Export limitations). So I did full export in 4 separate "***.vmsg" files.
After that I "Sent all Archived sms to 'Original destination to Phone" (it's took 4 hours over wi-fi).
Somehow it looks ok, but i missing ALL MY ATTACHMENTS.
Somehow all attachments still available and readable in Archive on computer.
I expected to see everything in restored sms on my phone
All attachments files located in "Attachmnets" folder. I am sure SMSDATA need to be re-Indexed...


How to RESTORE ALL SMS from my BackUp file including attachments?
Definitely, all my SMS with Attachments in 500Mb Backup file.

Sorry, but I just don't know, I'm just passing the problems along.
If you still haven't received an answer after 3 weeks (not after 3 days ), I would ask you to update the problem again.

i am still keeping my full BackUp and hoping to make restore as expected.
The problem with SMS rated as HIGHEST, help please...

It looks like you and developers have some serious problem with program functionality.

Probably, it's time to find new program because your product became OBSOLETE

I Will not recommend your software to my customers, friends and on meta-universe.

Guess what, you're a fool.

The MPE is developed by one single person alone in his free time. There is no company or even a team for that. If you have to rely on a free software for your all so important data, what does that say to your customers?
And what customers might that even be that you have to store 34K text messages on your phone?

You started this with "I expected from Restore process the same: full data restore w/t hidden restriction for sms and attachments too." There is nothing hidden. If Google changes the Android restrictions, they're to blame. You should be happy that the version that bypasses some of the restrictions is even available.

But hey, if you find a free substitute for this software that can deal with all the changes that Google made to the Android system over the last few years, you are welcome to share it here.

- I am very glad! my donation goes straight to that single developer, not a company slicks.

- The reason of keeping 34K txt messages is my work. I have to track all history including attachments.
*Not everyone use phone for a fun only.

- Would be great to see "NOTICE" before making Backup/Restore about loosing all attachments. Believe me if i saw it, i could find 3rd party solution w/t wasting time for that process and chating with you.

Anyway, you admitted a FAILURE of BACKUP/RESTORE process and CANT do anything about.

*I used mpeclient_1.0.48.apk for the that process.

I have informed FJ again about your problem and I assume (hope) that he will get back to you in the next few days!

Google did deny the write access of MyPhoneExplorer one year BEFORE i began to implement MMS support. The client 1.0.48 is only a semi official solution - not for the wide mass of MyPhoneExplorer users. Because of this i simply did not implement a solution to upload MMS with attachments to the phone. It would cause really many hours of work for me to implement this just for a few users which know about Client 1.0.48. This would make no sense.

I have reworked the process and i am sure it should work better now, but i am not able to test it because í do not have this huge amount of messages.

I have use myphoneexplorer several time successfully but I didn't work well on my last try:
I did a backup of my Redmi7A (Android 10) before migrating to LineageOS 20 (android 13).
When I restored the backup, the messages and call history weren't restored (the restore worked for the contacts and the events).
I can see the messsages and call history on myphoneexplorer on my computer and when I click on restore, I can see that they are all sent to my phone, but they don't appear in the phone /message apps. I have cleaned the storage of all those apps and retried a restore but still without success.

I first used the last myphoneexplorer 2.0 and then with the "MyPhoneExplorer_DebugUpdate.exe" mentioned in the previous message from FJ and the "mpeclient.apk" mentioned by icke1954 here* but it still not working.

Any idea what I should do to restore the messages/call history?

Is there a way to extract the sms/call history from the .mpb file and reinstall them via adb?

The linked article states denots:
- Uninstall the MPE client on the phone
- Install on your phone MPE-Client_1.0.48
- Realize the MPE Restore backup

Sorry I didn't understand it still applies to 2023/Android 13.

P.S: I tried to add a reply on the linked post to explain that it's still working in 2023 for android 13 and with a copy of your message with the clear steps to do it but the thread is closed so I wasn't able to do it (it may help someone else who like me won't understand what to do)
