I use this app to connect the phone wirelessly to the pc for file management. It works great when both the phone and the PC are connected to my home wifi router. But when I use the phone as my WiFi hotspot, it doesn't connect, and I haven't found any reference to this use case scenario in help. Is this a limitation of the software?
Thanks in advance for any feedback. |

This type of behavior can be expected. Phones are not able to be connected to more than one WiFi at the same time. |

To be more exact: It works also if the phone is in Hotspot-Mode. But the PC or the Laptop has to be connected as client to the Phone Hotspot. |

I'm afraid I don't quite understand what you guys mean. I have a Google Pixel 9 pro XL and the Hotspot feature works fine.
Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. When using the hotspot mode, I make sure the WiFi is OFF on the phone itself to prevent possible conflicts. I've even disconnected my Home Internet WiFi router to force the devices to seek connection with my phone's hotspot. Both my PC and my smart TV connect properly. Only MyPhoneExplorer doesn't seem to realize it has to connect to the phone's Hostpot, which it recognizes as the source of WiFi! If I could attach a screenshot showing what the MyPhoneExplorerClient shows, I would.
Koelner: If that helps, I'm asking the phone to connect to its own hotspot WiFi, not some other device's.
YardY: I will check your app link to see if it helps, but my phone and my phone plan have no hotspot or tethering restrictions.
FJ: I'm trying to connect the PC AND the phone to its own hotspot. In other words, I'm hoping the app can see that it must connect to its own internal WiFi, which it sees as active in the MyPhoneExplorer Client. |

@Old Faithful
The IP address is displayed in the MPE client on the cell phone, which should be entered in MPE => F2 => connection => Fixed IP-Address |

Yes, this should be possible with MyPhoneExplorer. Which IP-Address ist shown in the GUI of MyPhoneExplorer? Can you send a ping-Command to this IP-Adress from your PC? |

Thanks to your encouragements, I was finally able to make it work. I tried icke1954's suggestion, but it didn't work, despite the fact I could ping the hotspot fine on the PC as suggested by FJ. So I played around with the settings and discovered there were two "users", one of which was the name of my old phone's hotspot, which must have been carried on to the new phone when I synchronized it, and the new user, after I changed the hotspot name on the new phone to prevent confusion.
Apparently, it was trying to connect to the now inexistant "user"... Once I selected it, deleted it, then selected the new one and restarted the app, it worked as expected
I guess the bottom line is to make sure the proper "user" is selected, which, in the case of using the phone as its own WiFi hotspot, is its name. |
