Hello,
So after extensive testing using my Phone's Hotspot feature I found that it gives me better bandwidth than my landline and both my smart TV and my PC connect to it automatically without issue. As I have more than enough capacity with my cell phone plan, I finally got rid of my costly landline internet.
The trouble is, MyPhoneExplorer doesn't automatically connect to the hotspot and using the QR code tool in the Client app, when it appears, has no effect. As a matter of fact, when you read "Own IP Address" in the client app, it is either absent or completely different from the actual IP connection that you can reveal in Windows Network Connection Status Details.
All this would be acceptable if simply inputting the Default IPV4 Gateway IP Address from the PC's Network Connection Details would work, but because a new address is created randomly every time the Hotspot is turned on, one must go through the whole manual process every time.
As stated in a previous post of mine on this forum, using the Hotspot along with a wired WiFi Router does not cause this issue, presumably because the app connects to the wired WiFi instead, whose IP address doesn't change like the cellular one does.
Is there a way around this? How do other users who only use their phone's WiFi hotspot to connect do it? If not, would the developer consider creating a feature to look up the Windows Hotspot Network Connection IP Address to connect automatically?
Thank you for in advance for your feedback on this issue. |

It should work out of the box if the phone is working in hotspot mode. I made already a fix for this the last days so please install first the beta of MyPhoneExplorer Client on your phone: https://www.fjsoft.at/mpeclient.apk
Please launch then MyPhoneExplorer Client and check if Version 4.1 beta14 is shown. Also check if there is now the right IP-Address shown inside MyPhoneExplorer Client. |
